Yeah... I'll wait for the 9.5 cruiser axle. That diff is beef! The birfs are too.

Thanks dude! Might be going back this week, not sure I have the balls to run it again. :p

Ran Hells Revenge trail with a group of TW guys at Moab. About half way through they said my locker wasn't working. Ben apparently also heard a pop.

Got off the trail pretty late and I was pretty tired. I started airing up and everyone took off. Plan was to go hit the showers in Moab then back to camp for dinner. Finished airing up and put it into 2wd and couldn't go anywhere. Realized it was an axle shaft or the diff.

Found JLees number on here and got a hold of him, he came back up to the end of the trail and then called Alvin (wetworks) who had some jackstands and other helpful tools.

We slowly narrowed it down to the passenger side axle shaft, we thought it was broken but when we got it out we found the last 1/4 of splines were stripped. Confused we threw it all back together and after talking to Jace (lotsoftoys) I decided to run it back to camp in 4hi.

Called Chase at ECGS in the morning and he was certain I had snapped a side gear at the collar. He told me to run it home 2wd locked so Jace and Evan helped me lock her up and we headed back home.

Chase sent me a new diff fedex overnight for a very reasonable cost, thanks again Chase if you see this! Got it this morning, pulled the old 3rd and found just what he thought. Snapped the side gear right at the collar and the remaining splines couldn't handle the load and just wiped right off the shaft. Rounded the splines on the inside of the gear a bit too. Guess I'll be needing a new shaft, Chase says I'll be alright to drive it for now though.

    Max,
To save me from going through your whole build, do you have any body lift at all?

    Yeah... :(

Nah, there was a little wheel spin involved but nothing crazy. Chase said OEM parts are out of his control, but he still gave me a crazy good deal and a lot of help. I only found this failure online a couple places, doesn't seem super common. I posted on TTORA and I'll probably ask a few other places too.

Got the new 3rd in. Running the shitty shaft for now, I'm trying to find a whole assembly bearing and all included to replace it.

Everything seems to be working so far! :D

Chase said I could get a chromolly shaft through him but it's 270$ then he said the bearings are super expensive. I need to do some research.

Thanks man. Yeah, we took off Friday morning and spent the night in Elko. I would have liked to have met ya as well. It sucked to only be there for a day but the main point of the trip was to get the girlfriend out to see Moab and lots of Utah and Nevada as she hasn't been out of Reno and California much.:p So I guess we got that much done.

I'll post a few pics of this and that later.

As far as the BL and tire clearance. I did space my bump stops down about an 1/8 of an inch and beat the firewall back a lot more and in the one day of wheeling at Moab I can't see that I rubbed any, so that's good news. May or may not do a BL at some point.

Here are some pictures from Moab and the trip to.

Really just wanted to go for a couple days, meet some people, do some wheeling, and mostly show the GF parts of NV and Utah she hadn't seen before.

We had a great time even with breaking my 3rd.

Last year I took a trip to Moab with another TW member and so we followed in the foot steps of last trip.

We took highway 50 across Nevada and camped in the same area across the UT boarder.

It was disappointing but not surprising to see what had happened to the former shoe tree. Some vandals had cut it down before last years trip but this time everything was worse off.

Yet again we stopped at the hot springs for lunch and to relax and take in the sights, and again at Wheeler peak.

    Last years trip:
