I've followed your build thread, and its roughly what I want to do, suspension wise. your comment above makes me feel better, as I may get some allpro leafs.

That IS the ideal way to buy shocks genius!

The longer shocks extend to 27" and so does the AP leaf pack....put 2 and 2 together! The smaller ones extend to 24.29"!

You dont want a shock being what limits your travel....great way to blow an expensive shock! The AP pack has the ability for 11" of travel when broken in and has 3" of lift. Those shocks are for 1.5" lift and will stop the leaf pack from fully flexing! I know this guy is running it and it's been fine and I hope it stays that way for him!

Best way is to measure what shock will fit your application and buy accordingly! Allmotorrex is running the longer kings with the AP's and uses all the travel it has! Don't just buy shit off the shelf and hope it works?

That is what I was originally leaning towards, but since then...I've looked at some measurements (which are ALL OVER THE PLACE) for the AP standard packs, and the collapsed length concerns me more. The "lifted" rear shocks collapse to 16", AP I think recommends >14" for the collapsed length.

So, if you choose to run the "lifted" rears, you will most definitely need to address the bump stops, to prevent issues with the shocks bottoming out.

    My .02¢...

I knew you couldn't resist chiming in Sublime.

why is every sentence an exclamation?

and get off your high chair cause you are not purchasing the AP's first, installing, then measuring and finally ordering your shocks. You're hoping the person who measured their truck is 100%. good luck buddy, I think your job here is done.

Marco, my AP standards compress to 17" with stock bumps and flip plate being 1/2" thick! Couldn't get any info from AP and had to wait untill I installed last week! They are flexing to 25.5" now but need to break in as I know others getting 26.5-27" out of them! I'm running your RCD 5100's and they compress to 16" and change and it's a great match! I can post a pic if needed as I fully stuffed them to be sure!

Taqoma, my only beef with you is you bit my head off when I was asking you about measurements! To me you clearly had no idea about picking the right shocks for the right application! You have done a good job setting up this GB with Marco and I give you props but cant believe you would critize someone for getting a shock based on the leaf pack measurements??

And yes, I use a lot of exclamations!

Here is an example of why "us people" install the leafs, measure, then buy the shocks. This is a buddy's truck when he only had the 1-2" lift billy 5100s with the shock fully extended and the truck at ride height. He and I both, only had about 1-2" of down travel...

This is when he installed his old shocks that were a bit longer. You can see here how much more droop he will have when these one are installed and why I ordered custom length shocks for the rear for mine. For the record, these are AP Expo's

to me, you clearly think you know more than DSM about picking out the right shocks for the right application. :notsure:
