Toytec adjustment question

I've just finished installing my new UCA's and now I would like to adjust my Toytec coilovers to gain about 1" of additional height. I didn't adjust them up as much a most people when I installed them because I wanted to keep my alignment close to normal. Last night I took both sides off and adjusted the nuts so that I have a 1" gap between the large and the small adjustment collars. After putting them back on, the ride height has not increased at all. I've read another thread where they say to move the c-clip to the next slot and give more space between the 2 adjusting collars. The problem is.....I don't see a c-clip anywhere! I really don't want to take these things off again but i guess I have to. If anyone knows where this c-clip is I would really appreciate the pointer! Thanks!

 

Just keep cranking the CO's. It takes a bit to of turning to see any movement.

Get an alignment.

 

I should be more specific. I have the coilovers that came preassembled, so I could put them on myself.

 

So if I keep cranking, will I see a c-clip? Is it on the shock body itself? Thanks for helping! I will get an alignment, I just wanted to get this totally set right before I go in.

 

These? You are doing it right. Just keep turning the collar. You will get it.

 

Since you have the CO's all of the adjustment is w/the threads/collar. You don't need to mess with the C-clip. The position the clip is in is where it is supposed to be.

Do not change that.

 

Toytec says not to adjust the collars with less than 1" between them. So am I sitting as high as it gets (there is 1" between the collars now)? The front is almost 2" lower than the back. I really appreciate the input by the way.

 

I'm pretty sure it is 2" between them. Let me go find my install sheet.

 

JOLAYIV, just looking at your sig pics, you are sitting much more level than I am.

 

Yep my instructions say no more that 2" below the adjuster ring.

 

That's b/c I adjusted my CO's. I have about 1 3/4" below the ring.

 

And you have the one's that came preassembled? You didn't have to move any sort of clip?

 

I have these. No clip. Just make your adjustments w/the adjuster ring.

No need to take them off. You can make the adjustment on the truck. It is just a PITA sometimes. You may have to persuade them some if you make the adjustment on the truck w/a hammer to the spanner wrench.

 

The c-clip is on the shock body, underneath the threaded collar. You don't need to move this. In fact to do so, you'd have to get a spring compressor and disassemble them and all that mess...

Like others have said, just use the large adjustment nut. Also, once you make the adjustment and put it all back together, go drive around for a few minutes. That will help it all settle down. When I initially installed mine, I was way to high. Once I adjusted them down, the height to them bottom of the fender hadn't changed at all! However, once I drove around for a little bit, it settled back down to where it was supposed to be.

How much of the shock body do you have showing under the small adjustment collar? I have about 1" showing.

Since this photo, I've adjusted it down to where there's about 1/2" of thread showing below the adjustment nut. Also, I think the new coilovers have a longer threaded body.

You have about an inch and a half more of your shock showing on the bottom than I do. I'm confused!!!

 

No, you're good. I mistakenly set my c-clip at the .85" setting because I was given "old" instructions. That's why, when adjusted as indicated, I was sitting too high in the front and why I adjusted them down. It was easier for me to do that than to have them taken apart again to adjust the c-clip.
