uca's and lift

i noticed alot of guys on here get uca's when they do a 3 inch lift, i just wanna know if that means i need aftermarket uca's to lift my truck, i have no opinion or real knowledge on this subjuct so im open to pro's and cons and maybee getting a little educated,

 

The only con to replacing your UCAs after lifting it is the cost. If you lift your truck over 2", you'll need new UCAs to get the alignment back to spec. The stock UCAs will get you close, just not right.

I always put it this way - Are they necessary, yes. Are they required, no.

 

I also read that when you get UCA's like "Total Chaos" you get better handling on and offroad, along with more wheel travel.

X2 on this. I have TC UCA's on my truck but about 9/10 Tacoma's I have seen with a 3" lift have stock UCA's and they say they have no issues with them at all.

 

The only issue I have had with my stock UCA's is waiting 3 hours for the stupid Kal-tire tech to get my truck aligned......then coming back on TW and realizing it was all my fault!

 

so does anyone know if it will ride like trash with stock uca's because i might just make it happen one peace at a time, buying the peices as i can afford them does that sound like a good idea

 

Thats what I am doing. The ride is still fairly smooth although I never got to drive mine stock since I bought it used with the lift already in it. I have no complaints though. After 15,000 km with them, the tires are still wearing normally so thats all i care about right now. Hopefully I can sell my motorbike soon and roll around in the cash for a little while before spending it all though!

 

I drove my truck for a couple months with 3" lift and stock UCA's. Alignment was off and if I let go of the steering wheel I would go wondering like crazy. Total Chaos UCA's are amazing!! No more wondering and premature tire wear.

 

It won't "ride" poorly, you might just experience some pulling one way or another because of the alignment. Just have them get it as close as they can and you'll be fine until you get the new ones. Just remember the longer you wait, the more your tires may wear unevenly.
