That's the best way to do it I think. Do a few short trips on a highway for calibration, then just verify the calibration sometime on a longer trip. Assuming it's not too far off, you're golden. If it is off, just make the adjustment ;).

Yea, I don't see an issue with it. When I thought about it, the error level in the GPS is probably lesser than me trying to use mile markers... I figure I'll check it a few times and call it good.

So I went out to calibrate my UG tonight. Realized that the instructions are not the easiest to understand. You cant reset the trip gauges and then just drive 1 mile. you have to drive at least 2.5 miles.

Also, When i put the ACTUAL miles in, it changes the distance cal in and it changes it from 1.0 to 1.0XX. Should i leave it at that after putting in the actual miles travelled, or should I reset it afterwards?

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
Yeah I thought on the first read through that the calibration isn't clearly written. I have to go out and go through the process to find out but I'm wondering how to get it nail down even with the most accurate measurements.

    We shall see.

You have to drive at least one mile after resetting the trip gauges to calibrate.

So zero all trip gauges. Then drive the 1+ mile. Then pull over, and compare your GPS to the calibration page. Assuming it's different, make the adjustment. The distance cal 1.0 to 1.0xx is showing you how much it is adjusting for each and every mile. So for example if it says 1.100, that means for every mile your truck is logging, you are actually driving 1.1 miles. The UG is just showing the adjustment it's making for mileage.

You can keep zeroing the trip meters and re-check the calibration as much as you want. I made the mistake of resetting the calibration, don't do that unless you want to go thru the process again lol.

This device is far from "user-friendly" but most highly customizable/configurable systems are. I'm slowly getting the hang of how it works.

But the way the instructions are written, it doesn't work. You have to drive at least 2.5 miles for the gauge to collect enough data to calculate the distance. When I cleared everything out, and then drove 1 mile, it told me no distance, cant calculate. Or something like that.

It has to be more than 1 mile. It did work for me, so long as there's at least 1 mile logged.

Either way, the greater the distance the better the calibration. Might as well drive 2 miles. Hell, drive 2 - calibrate. Drive 10 - check calibration. If it's good, forget about it until you change tire size!

WTF? I did mine electronic the 2nd day after I got it and that was one of the first shipments. Haven't heard squat! And I know I did it correctly, I went step for step and double and triple checked because I know how these damn rebates work. I'll have to look it up but that has been a month or so. Said it would take the typical 4-6 weeks or something like that so I haven't been too worried over it yet.

Edit Mine was submitted by e-mail on 4-24

You might want to follow up with them to be honest. You only have 30 days, and I don't think they'll go out of their way to tell you something is wrong with your submission...

You may not have filled out everything. Double check what you sent. I know I forgot to send a copy of my shipping slip so I had to resend it.

 did you send it electronically?

I'd verify they received it and everything is correct. Did you get a confirmation email that they received it? I did pretty much immediately after sending the email in. 3 days later, they sent a confirmation the $9 would go back on my CC. It hasn't actually hit my CC yet :)rolleyes:) but hopefully it will soon.

Same here, I sent off my docs (rebate form, packing slip, safety & disclosure). Received the first "Please Read" email, and that's it so far. Only thing I can figure is maybe since I payed with paypal they might be mailing a check and not doing the chargeback to a CC.

I used Paypal, but didn't sign into my account. I just used a CC thru Paypal "anonymously". (I wanted it to pull from my CC not my checking acct :p)

    Same thing here.

They refunded the Group Buy discount through PayPal, can't see why they wouldn't do the same with the rebate. Especially since if they mail a check they still have to pay the PayPal fee for the $9.

Holy Crap. Is that UG rebate BS really necessary !?
Since I bought 3 of them to give them to my two boys as gifts I can't wait until their birthdays but have to do it all now with each vehicle. Cripe.
