i finally decided to take the truck to the dealer and have them install the Leaf Spring.
Appreciate if you guys can give me some advice on what to watch for and say incase the dealer gives me a hard time. I have had good service experience at this dealer so I am hoping they will order the parts for me.
I printed out the tsb and all set to to.
What parts would they add to change when this tsb is done?

How can I know if this was done properly?

or what things can I look for to make sure they havent missed anything.

I have read few post where drivers had to take their truck back because things were missing or not done properly.

Tell them you're experiencing a "harsh ride when carrying heavy cargo". I had mine done way back in '07 but if it's still the same they should only have to replace your rear springs. They wanted me to bring it back loaded up to demonstrate the problem but I just had them look at the spots on the frame where the truck had been riding on the bump stops!

I told the dealer the truck was bottoming out around 800 lbs and they told me to bring it in so they can inspect it. They said they had to check for damage and/or rubbing to justify the TSB. Just to make sure they wouldn't give me any trouble, I drove around the block with a few of my large buddies hopping on the back :D. They installed it no problems..

If they give you any trouble just tell them you'll call Toyota directly and complain about the harsh ride and they will end up scheduling you an appointment with the same dealer.

I eventually had to give them the TSB number and they agreed to do it. Check to make sure they only change springs. With the OR you retain your Bilstein shocks. Very glad I got it done. Truck rides much better now and doesn't sag nearly as much. I levelled it with Bilsein 5100's on the front at 1.75" and am pretty happy with the set up. Good luck.

I cut some wires here. Added some wires there.
Don't load anything or put anything in the back. They know its a god damn problem. If they wanna see it suck they got tools and mechanics, they can do it themselves.

They should replace it no prob. I told them that it sagged more than it should when I hooked my 2500 lb. boat up to it. Be SURE to let them know that the only thing that needs replaced is the rear springs and double check it once it's done. I told them before hand and they still screwed up and replaced my shocks with the base models. On the bright side I got brand new bilsteins, but it took 4 trips to the dealership.

Thanks for the advice guys. The dealer checked it out and they approved it for the Leaf TSB. I am gonna take it back in next week when the part is there. I have a 2010 with TRD package and according to the tsb, they shouldnt change the shocks so I'll make sure I will let them know.

So the only parts they will change is to add a new U bolt and a spring on each side?

What kind of shocks do I have right now?

StockSport.. what do you mean "On the bright side I got brand new bilsteins"?

Yes. All they should change is U bolt and rear leaf springs.

    You have Bilstein shocks.

Since they took my original Bilsteins off (which they never should have done) they replaced them with brand new ones. Not sure why, but they did.

Is there an easy way to tell if the Leaf TSB has been done on my truck??

Can I look for anything in particular, or is it just easier to call dealer and give them my vin # ??

    Thread Hi-jack!

I bought my Tacoma just after it passed the 3 year 36k bumper to bumper warranty...it has 36K now, it does NOT have the TSB done. This means if I want it done, I am stuck paying out of pocket for it, correct?

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I just told my dealer that I use my truck for work and that the factory springs sag badly with more than 400lbs in the bed, and they did not give me trouble. But it's farm country out here, all pickups get used for what they were intended for.

I tried to avoid that label being applied to my truck too, I told them that when towing a 3500 lb boat the rear was hitting the bump stops when I would hit a pothole and they replaced them no problem within 3 hours.

If out of warranty, would it be more cost effective to just go with an aftermarket replacement spring set? I don't know what a dealer would charge to do the TSB...
