Damn right this trip is still happening. I'm looking more forward to this trip than I am the Crown King one. I already have PTO off and I'm going, rain or shine. Took a 5 day weekend off for this mofo, and even cancelled customer business travel around it.

 

Bring it, son. A little friendly wager?

 

Pfft 80's to even 90's during the day at the MOST, probably an average in the high 70's to low 80's. At night, expect it to get chilly but maybe high 40's at the lowest. Perfect sleeping weather.

 

I'm 99% sure I will be attending. I will be driving up from Tucson, so I may just head up Thursday after I get off work & meet you guys at the camping site. If that's the case seabass, do you have GPS coordinates of your intended camping location?

I am down for this one if there is still a spot.

 

I do owe Seabass some lil something something......so I am not much of a cook but am willing to supply some steaks...anyone have some grill skills? I would be interested in leaving Shea and 87 sometime that Sat. AM if anyone is interested in a caravan.

 

Sounds like fun. I think I've been there like 15yrs ago but my memory is fuzzy. Any place to plink up there?

Matt - you can plink up the road a bit on the south side of Rim Road, but with the lake right below us and a campground across the way I think they would frown on it at the campsite.

 

Hope they get some rain. No fires allowed except in established campground .

I just spent a week in the white mtns . Fishing at big lake was excellent.

Campfire and smoking restrictions will be implemented on the Coconino and Kaibab National Forests beginning Wednesday at 8 a.m.
Under the fire restrictions, fires, campfires, charcoal, coal and wood stoves are allowed in developed campgrounds only. The restrictions also limit smoking to within enclosed vehicles, buildings, or in developed campgrounds.
Pressurized liquid or gas stoves, lanterns, and heaters that can be turned off are allowed.
Forest visitors are reminded that some campfire restrictions are always in effect, such as in forested areas within city limits of most northern Arizona communities. Additionally, fireworks are never allowed on National Forests.

Cool, I meant in the area. I'd like to make this, I'll see if the wife is interested when she gets home. I may have to work..we'll see.

 

Campfires will be very unlikely unless we get some good moisture in the next couple of weeks. Usually in June they start getting afternoon showers but it looks to be pretty dry when we're up there. Bring lanterns and stoves!

 

That blows. Can't we just dig our own fire pit and ask for permission? LOL.

 

If you guys want to see some devestation go check out the Big lake, Alpine area. WOW it's some MAJOR devestation. it's hard to believe that a couple of careless assholes could cause that much destruction. I know fire is a natural cycle of nature, but to think this could have been prevented is totally frusterating.

Let's hope for an early monsoon season and rain prior to your trip. Last week we had a fire every night and it was so relaxing. It was in the 30's at night.

Yeah man, I can't understand people who do not know how to put our their fire and cigarettes properly.

Camping just isn't the same without a fire.

 

I usually go up there in June and I've been lucky the past few years with rainfall and fire restrictions. I've seen the fire restrictions removed just days before a trip, so I'll keep crossing my fingers for this one. I don't mind using stoves and lanterns at all, but we all know the benefits of a good fire!

 

I'll be contributing 4-5 cases of powerade to the group, you supply your own cooler and ice to keep drinks cool. It would be nice to get a head count to see how many ppl are coming, should I need to bring more.
