    Dealer just called me.
New Supercharger installed-same exact two rattle noise on engine shutdown.
Dealer service manager was on the phone with TRD when service advisor called me and they will send a video to TRD.
Looks like I'm going to have the loaner for awhile.

No,service rep said it's definitely the supercharger.

    You have an '05.
    '05-'08 superchargers are fine.
The '09 unit is rumored to have rear bearing issues.

    Where is this information from?

I really think you and the dealer are getting worried about a noise that every supercharger for our truck makes when its shut off. Mine makes noise doesn't bother me one bit. Which is caused by the lobes inside.

I got that info from one of the most Toyota knowledgeable persons here.
I am not going to name him and put him on the spot.

I had this supercharger for a couple of months and there wasn't any sound with the engine shutoff. If it was from day one, maybe I would believe it's normal.
The rattling sound is nothing like the video you posted. The service dept has installed a number of superchargers in Tacoma's,Scion's and Tundra. They were installing one on a Tundra when I dropped off the truck.I think they would know if a SC is bad or not.
They were the only dealer in my area who would do the install in the book 6 hours because they do many and don't have to refer to the instruction paperwork word for word like the excuse I was getting from other Toyota dealers in my area who wanted 8-10.I even got a 12 hour quote because they don't do many..
Maybe the rear bearing issue rumor on the '09 unit is true

I belive it was me that gave Joe the info. Everything I have found is pointing to a rear bearing problem on the superchargers for the '09's. I have no idea why this is, as the rear of the blower is (Should be) the same as the 05 to 08 superchargers. Seems quite a few people have had this issue on their 09's and it may be traced to the bearings being poorly pressed in. FWIW, my SC on my 2000 never made any noise on shut down.

Thanks, Buddy, but I dont think that title fits me. There are quite a few folks on here that really know their stuff about these trucks. :)

Toyota all weather floor mats. Mag light that clunks around in the jack compartment. Dog hair. Dog drool on the windows.
I've always though, coming from a fan of muscle cars. that if you put in a super charger, or Turbo charger that the bearings should also be changed to say heavier duty ones.

I was talking about the rear bearings of the supercharger impellers. The Toyota engines are more than up to the task of being supercharged or turbocharged......up to a point. :)
