Does the optional iPod/iPhone cord plug into the back of the head unit? I really want to avoid having wires hanging from the dash. I couldn't find a definitive answer as to whether or not the cord plugs into the front USB.

Nope plugs into the front right by the bottom left corner. They MAY have one on the back as well. My AVH-3200BT only has front inputs for iPod.
Edit, didn't even look at the back pic's.. Yes the iPod plugs into the front.

It plugs into the USB port on the front, I use just a regular iPod charging cable to hook my iPhone up to my 1400

I hear ya I just don't like wires on the dash or hanging. I just need to find a head unit that has it out the back so I can run the cord to a more discreet place.

I have the AVH-P4400BH it runs out the back. I have my cord running into my glove box.

By a black cable for your iPod and tuck it on the side of the deck. Or unplug it when you get out of the truck and put it in the center counsel.

Thanks, man. That one looks good and not too much more. Might have to go with that one.
