Noah needs help with a flood!

HELP!

My name is Noah (literally), and my '08 Prerunner DBL-Cab TRD is flooding the driver's side floor during hard rains (four times and counting now). This is my first Tacoma and I need help.

I have:

• Checked to make sure all the drain channels in and around the front cowl & body are clear - (clean and clear)
• Checked the A/C air intake - (filer and area are dry)
• Checked the door seals - (flooded with a hose... dry)
• Checked the firewall - (visually and w/ a hose)
• Checked the roof rack mounting area (flooded with a hose... dry)
• Rear window (dry)

I'm at my wits end. I love the truck, but I can't figure out where the flooding is coming from. I have personally removed all the seats, carpet, dash, console, etc. (everything I felt confident I could get back together) and flooded the exterior with a hose to check for leaks. Nothing....


In a last ditch effort before possibly selling the truck I am appealing to you all... the experts... the individuals with a knowledge and passion for Tacomas.

Update: My truck interior is 80% deconstructed again (I'm getting good at it now). I have found that it is wet along the back of the rear storage racks behind the rear seats (would imply the rear window leaks, but it is dry). Also there is a pug under the rear rack that when removed exposes a puddle of water (not sure how to drain this, or how it got there). See picture.

 

Take it through a car wash and ride in it.

To sub for later, I'll suggest moving the animals to the other side.

Water in the rear... First thing I would scrutinize would be 3rd brake light.

 

Windshield?

 

Use a shop vac to get all the water out. Make sure everything is really dry. Then go to a car wash or get a hose and soak all the joints, seams, plugs, lights windows, everything and look for water.

 

• Windshield great
• 3rd brake light is good and fully gasketed

I'm thinking it's the rear sliding window, but still no active leaking has been observed.

 

3rd brake light, window, and body vent all come to mind in that area.

 

3rd brake light seal ! ive had it fail 2 times already.

 

Do you have a roof rack or something that would allow water in from up top to roll down the backside?

 

The truck interior is completely taken out. Still no clue how/ why it keeps flooding.

3rd brake light: no leak
Rear sliding window: no leak
No roof rack & only the floorboards were wet

I'm getting awfully irritated with this issue. The truck successfully dried out (carpet up/ air dry). I've tried to artificially flood it several times since its latest leak and still no clue where it comes in. Almost seems like its pooling in the body somewhere (my guess) and flooding into the cab when it get over full.

 

go to the do it yourself car wash, and spray the shit out of your truck, but have someone inside, give them a soda and tell them to sit in the middle, and watch for leaks. I think there are gromits at the bottom, where the interior cables go out to the back of the bed.

 

God? Maybe it's time to start collecting up 2 of every animal. Please leave black flies and mosquitoes off your list. The last Noah really dropped that ball on that one.
