Thanks. I was adjusting some of the noise among other things in PS and must not have paid enough attention to it.

It is cropped. I could probably do a better job of cropping it. I didn't have many options for back ground because of where the feeder is. The picture was actually taken from my coffee table through a window. I don't like the tree either because it messes with the beak and wings.

Nice shot! Although if possible I would say get a bit closer :). Because too me the background is too busy for such a small subject, but that's just me. Or is the main subject the feeder?

    Either way, nice pic.

EDIT: I realize that it wasn't in TW most preferred place

I would get closer if i could, but all i have is an 18-135 lens. I'm only about 20 ft from the feeder. This is why i really want a 70-200 and a 1.4 teleconverter

Yeah, that'd be nice. Make sure you get at least the f/4 because a teleconverter, and please correct me wes or cmack, takes away a stop of light, making the f/4 become f/5.6
Yes it does, and no its not, it is probably becuase I am just used to blank backgrouds and being able to get 4-5ft from the bird

    No cropping here-

    correct

    Or

You could just use a crop sensor camera and get a little extra reach with the sensor's crop factor

Yay! wasnt sure if it was take away or add...

And yes, but in all honesty its not that much of a difference on a 200. It only gets you too 320.

    yes the 1.4x loses 1 stop and the 2x loses 2 stops. I'm looking for a 70-200 F2.8

18-135 with a crop factor still didn't get me as close as i wanted.

Right now it's hard to justify dropping another grand on a lens after dropping over a grand on the camera to start with. I'll probably rent a lens when i go to Yellowstone this summer.

    I want that

    Bbbuuttt I'd rather get the 400mm f/4

Bbbuuutt those are out of range so 400f/5.6 it is for me!

I'm wary of TC, some can lower the IQ of your images (I know Nikon's TC aren't the greatest)

The 18-135 is designed for crop sensors, you are not getting any additional reach with that lens.

The Canon ones aren't too bad. But like you said, they lower the IQ

I've got the 18-135 and its an all around great walk around lens...but when it comes to wildlife and distance it falls a little short. Want the 18-200 eventually. I have the cheap sigma 70-300 and for the 50 bucks I paid for it...its hard to call it a good purchase. Ultimately I would love to get a hold of the 70-200 with a 1.4x. I would even be willing to go with a higher TC since the VR should compensate at least one stop. Money just becomes a huge factor.

How's the IQ on that 18-200? Seems like a very long range

I've contemplated getting the 55-250 as a stop gap until i'm able justify the cost of a 70-200.

You should also know that not every lens works with them either. I use sometimes use a 2x with my 300-never in low light BTW.
