How hard is that top out? I've been there for climbing a few times, but only actually drove up to elliot mine once. I stopped at the second to last landing, after the big boulder in the middle of the hill, because it got really narrow and I wasn't sure if I could get over the ledge. From the picture it doesn't look too bad, but it looked huge in person.

I wish I was in so cal! I would totally go, this is my playground! :D

This is the obstacle that made me worried, so I stopped before it. How tough is it? I don't have lockers, but was fine the rest of the way (seriously, no problemo)

It's pretty steep & rutted but the ruts are cut right into hard granite & traction is usually excellent & yeah its a little sketchy right as you have to climb up & turn left on an off camber corner IIRC, but you made it that far so you coulda finished it even with open diff, looks big up there but theres really only room for a couple trucks

Its not that bad, but like doug said you'll only fit a couple trucks at the top.

I may go out, maybe we can do Lawrence Welk sometime, then I dont have drive damn 1.5 hours to get there...
Fukin Jeep gets like 14 mpg, boo.

Depending on how much money I can make this week determines if I am going to Elliot mine it just do a solo tour of LW since its only 10 minutes from my door..
Its all about the gas money, and as you know the prices are currently skyrocketing, were getting screwed again, harder and harder each and every year.
Gdamn curtain wearing, Ferrari driving, Arab A-holes.
Oh and you can also include our local, and Federal politicians in there as well.

Ok so update, since Elliot is a short run we are definately leaning toward a second spot on the way home. Corral is going to be pretty crowded with a justruns.com group so we may drop down Japatul into Lyons Valley and hit up the Pancake on the way back into town, time permitting. This will be up to the driver if you choose to go, pancake requires armor, sliders minimum unless you just dont care. Plans are still a bit fluid at this point.

Pancake requires armor? I have been there and I though it was pretty easy IMO. I didnt even have a lift when I went, plus I was on bald 31s (In the Jeep Wrangler).

I think pretty much anybody with 4wd should be fine..unless it has changed since a few months ago.

Also you may want to see if the fence is open now, last I heard Pancake had a locked gate and was inaccessible.

The city/county has been locking tons of gates and they said it was because of jackass people dumping their trash out there and also some sort of vandalism, but not sure exactly what.

Before we know it everything will be closed if they ave their way about it.

I am trying to get confirmation on the gate asap, thank for mentioning that, first I ave heard.

If I recall, this trail is pretty technical (single black diamond, maybe?)and I think it is a really good idea to have armor, especially in a 2nd gen. That is why I made the suggestion, I would not want someone to get in there and bang up their truck because nobody told them what they were getting into. I would think that it was probably pretty easy for you in the Wrangler though.
I sure hope you can make it out Jason, had a blast with you last weekend, wish we could have found something other than long driveways

Here is the latest regarding Pancake Rock, a shame.

Yes, there is now a Locked Gate near Lyons Valley Rd. on Carvacre Trail aka Pancake Rock Trail. The gate was erected by the owners of the property. That portion of the trail does not belong to Cleveland National Forest. We, in the 4WD community had been warned for the past couple of years that the trail would be closed if the vandalism, bonfires and illegal trail cutting continued. It was a big disappointment but not a surprise that it finally happened. Just another example of “Rogue” 4 Wheelers spoiling it for the rest of us.

So pancake is off the list....

Corral Canyon? Or thats probably going to be rush hour on a Saturday, I usually only go there during the week just because of that. Its sort of a pain to meet another froder on a narrow road and figure out who is going backwards!

BTY Tyler is your Jeep buddy on the Jeep Forum and his name is nuthead?

Looks like Corral Cyn will be the next play, yes. I think the justruns.com group wil be focusing on the 911A run so there should be some room, we'll find out I guess.
I dont know if my buddy is on any forums, perhaps it is his other friend that is going.
