I got a traxxas slash 4x4. Brushless and with the 3cell it gets so hot even with 2 fans on the motor and a fan on the speed control. What upgraded motors you guys running.

I've been looking at the momba monster 5700. Or should I go bigger and just run 2cells in it to keep the heat down

Moose, if you want fast and tough but don't care about handling as much go with the slash. If you want fast, somewhat-durable, and great handling go with the SC10 4x4 or the Losi Ten SCT-E

    Too many to list

I run a mmp 2400kv setup in my slash 4x4, you can run 3s with any gearing you want and it stays cool, then if you want insane speed you can also throw in a 4s .

so while i was researching today, i came across the HPI 4wd SC trucks. both the 1/8th and 1/12th scales are pretty sweet, but seems like theres alot more stuff out for the 1/10th scales. any input on the HPI's? I am in LOVE with the HPI Ivan Stewart 4WD SC truck.. BUT its 1/12th scale.

Traxxas Slash 4x4 vs. HPI SC 4x4 vs. SC10

    which one..

stay away from the SC10 4x4 its junk

For a basher go with the Losi TEN-SCTE, its a pig and it is very basher friendly

shit.. didnt see this post. lol

thanks for the breakdown. I havent played with a RC truck in years so i forget how the steering is. I wish i could Demo some. Is the Traxxas pretty tough to handle?

and dammit there are alot of manufacturers that make these things. lol

HPI, Traxxas, Losi, and Team Associated.. decisions, decisions..

Are you talking about the HPI Apache SC? If you don't care to spend the money, buy that. The only thing is, it runs on twice the battery power the 1/10th scales do... but that means you can go all the way up to 6S if you get brave.

It all depends on what you are trying to do with your model. Race on a track, bash at the local park or softball field/construction site?

Personal opinion best basher for the buck can't go wrong with a traxxas

My friend bought a sc10. When I bout my slash. I've had very minimal issues
He's had a problem every time we go play

If your only going to the track sc10 all the way or a Losi

yeah the 1/8th, ok.. what if this is my first RC in YEARS.. worth it to spend the extra?

probably bash and the local field, etc.

Probably no track time.. unless i really get back into RC. lol

I think it will be between the Traxxas and Losi.. leaning toward Traxxas.

    thanks guys!

For a bullshitter/basher I don't think you can beat Traxxas, again, my opinion.

Sure, my hobby shop has all that stuff, I'm sure a EBay search will yield results.
