Probably just a scam. Crash salvage tends to be a few grand below market price, not this steeply discounted.

how could it be a scam, i mean all you do is put down a small deposit of like 500 or 1000 and they'll deliver the truck to you, and if you don't like it, then they'll pick it back up and give you your money back

Ok..so I emailed the link in the add and asked why were they selling it so cheap. I got this email back today..

    "Hello,

The truck is still available and the price for 2008 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 Double Cab TRD SR5 is $7,900. I'm the owner and the truck is paid off. It's black with gray interior, 24,000 miles, 4x4, clear title, automatic transmission, is in excellent condition, no accidents, Immaculately maintained, non-smoker, engine runs perfect and clean. I worked for Toyota and had access to the employee store. I bought the truck for a very low price and that's why I can sell it so cheap.
I got promoted and moved to Hungary. I'm in Hungary and the truck is located in Bangor, ME. It's prepared for shipping and the delivery costs are included in this price.
We will use ebay to secure our deal because it protects both buyer and seller. You send the money to ebay and they hold the payment until the truck arrives. You have 7 days to inspect it and I get the money after you make sure everything is ok and decide to keep it. If you don't like the truck and want to return it, I will arrange to ship it back and you will be 100% refunded by ebay.
If you are interested and you have the funds available you can buy it on ebay by hitting buy it now button and complete the process:

    http://motors.shop.ebay.com-cars-tr...=0&Make=Toyota&_trksid=p1695235.m724&pid=tac1

    Many thanks,
    Lisa Brown"

So if you look at the link it looks to be a legitimate Ebay posting. Alot of detail and work..until you go to EBAY and try to find the actual listing. NOT THERE !! What a surprise ! And the listing on craigslist is gone as well. There are alarms going off in a few things here...why the hell would you list this in the Rochester,NY craigslist if it's in Bangor,ME ? Just an update...as usual " If it sounds to good to be true it probably is ". Caveat Emptor

I am guessing you have not browsed many craiglist ads mainly vehicles for sale.

Most part ads are legit but car ads are almost a waste of time based on which model vehicle if you are in the area of a large city. Scammers post non stop in large cities. You can flag them, they get taken down and are back in a couple hours.

Not worth the time to even flag or complain about just the nature of free ads, cars.com is the same way.

Easiest way to tell is to look at the background if it matches your area, license plates are tpypically not on the vehicle and they are all pefectly detailed, prestine condition in and out all for a price of half the typical value.

I've honestly never paid much attention to vehicles for sale on there. This one caught my eye only because of the price ( way too low ) and I thought it was odd. Do people actually respond to this type of thing with intent to buy the truck ? Wow..it's obvious with very little looking into details.
