Like the title states, I was out of town on a business trip and the day I was to come home someone keyed my truck. It starts on the front flare and hits every panel all the way back. You can feel it with your fingernail, it will not buff out.

The body shop wants to repaint all the affected panels. Front fender moldings, pass door, pass access door, pass bed side.

I don't really want to repaint my almost new truck, does anyone know of a touch up product that would provide a good quality fix, or is repainting all the panels the only way to go?

Does Toyota sell the fender moldings pre-painted?

My truck is white if it matters.

    Repaint.

Touch up on that many panels might be okay for a 20 year old truck where you just want to protect against rust, but it's never going to look right.

Re paint is the only way. No touch up kit would look good.

Reprinting would probably be the best bet. They may as well repaint the entire truck if they managed to key that much.

Touch up will look horrible against new paint. If you trust the body shop and know they do good work, repaint and blend.

Thanks guys, I think the shop is pretty good. I made a couple comments about my expectations, and he fully agreed and understood. With it being white I think we can get away with just painting the affected panels.

Yeah, I checked it at 7:30am then had to take a test. When I got back at 9:30 it was done. I don't know anyone in the town I was in. I was parked in the same parking spot for 2+ days.

Could have just been a random vandal jealous of your truck, or it could have been someone who felt that they "owned" the parking spot that you had taken over.

We had a stretch for about 2 months during which every dark blue vehicle in our condo complex was keyed bumper to bumper... some on both sides.

Really gets my blood boiling to hear about this crap... those scumbags need to have some balls - if they have a problem with you, they should say it to your face not destroy you property behind your back. So cowardly. Or they need to grow the fuck up and stop screwing with other people's hard earned property for fun...

You're lucky you have white. White is very easy to match compared to other median colors....

If you are gonna repaint anyway, I would park in the same for a few days before the new paint job, hide a camera somewhere and catch the creep. They'll come again... catch 'em in the act.

Dupli-color then buff it. Dupli-color will have the exact paint match for your truck. That's what I did with my car and you can't notice it. They use the factory paint codes.
