It's not lunch time yet :p

I was thinking about sending out texts to the locals to see if anyone wants to get together around lunch, just to eat and shoot the shit.

It's my off day and i'm bored as hell.

Just thought I'd mention the nearly two-hour power outage in south Huntsville and southern Madison County a few hours ago. The cause was reported to be the failure of a switch on power lines serving an unnamed industrial plant on Green Cove road. A substation supplying power to the area shut down as a result. All seems back to normal now.

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
Heard about that. I can't believe one substation going down cut the power for that large of an area.

I couldn't believe it either. And the substation evidently wasn't even the root cause. A lowly switch on a pole somewhere caused the whole mess, which I really didn't think would be possible. Certainly got me thinking about buying a generator again.

LOL. Must be building/testing a new EMP pulse weapon of some sort. Just wish the dang fools wouldn't use my part of town as the target. They might mess up my pretty truck.

Want a good laugh about that? This is no BS, cause I actually saw it in operation, but a friend of mine from Florida actually BUILT a hand-help EMP cannon! He is an engineer for NASA (I'm not giving out his name) and he designed one that actually focused a short-range EMP pulse. What made him build it was the myriad of kids in Florida driving around blasting their stereos. He said he got pissed one day when he asked this guy at a stop light to turn his radio down, and the guy turned it up louder instead.

So he tells me this and I am calling BS on him. So we go for a ride in his truck. He has this thing that is made up of PVC pipe and wire coiled around it and all. to be honest it looked like a piece of junk. He had a power wire that led into the bed of the truck where he had a gas generator running, and some box in the back that just looked too strange to describe. Anyway we are heading down hwy 5a in Daytona and we pull up to a stop light, and sure enough, some kid in his rice-burner (no offense intended) and blasting his radio. My buddy points this thing towards the guys car, pushes a button and not a sound. The thing didn't even act like a damn thing happened, but the kids car went TOTALLY silent. I mean this thing not only shut the radio down, but the whole CAR shut down. We just pull away like nothing happened and this kid is looking all like "WTF?" t the light. I SO want to have one of those!

It seems SE Huntsville has had a few late night power shutdowns in the last few years. I believe one of the last ones was due to a racoon in the substation.
