HID Interior lights??

Was browsing through the funny pictures thread and I saw one of those ads at the bottom and it read:
"Interior lighting kit 05-12 tacoma $40"

I thought "meh, seems cheap lemme just take a look"

Am I uneducated or have I made an observation of a horrible sale trick in trying to incorporate bulb temperature into LED interior lights? Seriously?

 

5000K is the color, mostly white with a hint of blue.

I figured that would be the color but usually thats referring to HID's right? Since those actually - burn -

With LED's it's usually cool white right?

 

not H.i.D. they are LED's
just white led's

 

Oh i know they're not HID's but I just found it weird that they used a color reference for HID's with LED's. Feel me?

That's normal... not the first marketing ploy to do that.

 

Color temp is nothing more than the color or the light, regardless the source. The first dealing I ever had with it was 15 or so years ago when I got in to saltwater reef keeping.

Go to your local home improvement store and look at the light bulb options. Color temp listing is pretty standard. It's just easier for most people to relate to "cool white", "soft white" or "daylight" as a color reference then Kelvin temps.
