So are you saying that this head unit will allow you to utilize all of the hand controls on your steering wheel? Thats pretty awesome if it will.

I have found that grabbing like this and giving a quick pull toward you and up at the same angle as the dash releases the stereo easily.

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1337649994.919976.jpg gotta pull the clock and hazard out of the old bezel for reuse. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1337650034.353985.jpg
Watch the orientation. There is a correct way the new piece screws into the new bezel. It will be readily apparent, just make sure you have it in your hand the correct way before you snap in the hazard cluster.

Ok, if someone could stop me from freaking out right now. Had to quit for the night and put it back together to go to work tomorrow. Question... The light that says airbag that is just under the radio is always lit when the truck is running, correct??????

Mic is going on the cover over the rear view.

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1337653891.160285.jpgsince the glovebox was already out to remove the Cleensweep, I used this spot for the mic wire.

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1337653996.981777.jpg. Do NOT attach to this!!! I just tucked the wire behind it.

    ImageUploadedByTapatalk1337654088.802779.jpg
This will be pretty much invisible once the wires are all hidden.

No doubt on the RCA's my friend, been there done that. Just don't ever try to put a remote start on a manual tranny Scion TC, i stayed scraped up from that thing for weeks, ha!

Anywho, tips on the ASWC, sure! As most of you may know, the ASWC is an Auto-Learning/Programming SWC interface. Lately we have noticed that the ASWC is seeing a lot of the new Kenwood radio's as JVC. Because of this, sometimes you have to wire a 10K-12K ohm resistor in series with the Blue/Yellow SWC input on the Kenwood, and the Brown wire from the ASWC. This is Temporary, and would be removed after the auto detect stage. We have a list that Metra sent us some time back, and the KDC-x896 is not on it, but the 796 is, so chances are you will need a resistor.

I included the resistors in your package just in case of this. If you need to do this, I suggest to wire the 9100 ohm (White, Brown, Red, Gold) and 2700 ohm (Red, Violet, Black, Brown, Brown) in series to create 11.8k. This will simply go in line between the Blue/Yellow from the radio, to the Brown from the ASWC.

The first stage is the auto detect stage for the car, you will see some short flashes, then some long flashes, then it will pause for two seconds. Next is the radio detect stage, it will then either flash 5 times for JVC (someone grab the resistor), or 2 times for Kenwood. If it flashes 5 times, get the resistors and put them in line as mentioned above, then follow the step on the instructions for "if the ASWC has been installed before". This will reset it, and go back through the auto detect, this time because of the extra resistance, it will see the radio as a Kenwood.

Link to ASWC programming for Toyota: http://contentdocs.installernet.com/documents/vehicle/10957.pdf

BTW, if anyone is wondering, starting within the next few weeks, all the ASWC’s that we will be shipping will be including the resistor. You can also manually set the radio type as well, but it’s easier to just use the resistor like I mention above.

    :D
