I had a 92 Toyota pickup that I replaced with a new Jeep Wrangler in 2001. I've dumped a good bit of money in my Jeep and also have an 02 330i. I like both of my vehicles but I've been thinking about going from 3 vehicles (wife also drives a Flex) to 2. My Jeep is fun off road with lower gears (4.88's) and front and rear lockers but the 4 cyl is no fun on the highway. The BMW is a great car that is fun on the road but I don't drive it much in the winter and being a low car with soft black paint I worry about it a lot.

I've been thinking about getting a 4 door 6-speed Tacoma and getting a TRD supercharger to make it more fun. I know it won't handle like my car or go off road like my Jeep but it should split the difference. With the super charger it should be close to the same power to weight ratio as my BMW.

Just thought I would join this forum and try to learn a little before I make any trades.

    Welcome!!

What made you think about buying a tacoma?

I can understand wanting to have 4WD and offroad capabilities.... and you wanted a supercharger to get more power to be similar to the BMW.

What do you NEED?? Do you need towing/hauling abilities? Do you need a truck? Do you have a family/children/baby and need family practicality? What does the future look like ......... will your NEEDS change?

Just slapping some reality in the mix....

I used to own a built jeep and offroaded for 10+ years. We grew out of it and I've never had my truck offroad but I use it for hauling and 4WD winter driving. We currently own a corvette..... it's a pleasure vehicle and we rarely take it out. My husband has an SUV - AWD and lots of room for 8 people and cargo.

It's whatever you NEED..........and think of the future.
    Good Luck!

I had a toyota pickup before my Jeep and really liked it. I want something fun and reliable with a manual transmission and 4 doors. I need something with 4/AWD that can make it up the curvy hill into my neighborhood in the winter. Having the ability to haul my bikes, house supplies and of course our Lab (with a camper top of course).
