I was booking it down bessemer mine road towards the end of the race to get to a sandy area in case the race truck got stuck, and the chase truck in front of me, with dust blowing up all around us, asked me to turn my lights off because he was being blinded from behind :D

They didn't shut off, they dimmed to ~30%. I doubt you could run these on a 100°F night w/o airflow. At ~140°F the thermal protection kicks in.

About 2 minutes after I got airflow (@ 25mph) they came back on to full. It was about 80°F ambient when they self-protected. Mine are installed in the bumper fog light pockets. If you have them mounted in the open they //may// dissipate heat better, but I expect you desert guys are not going to be able to run them while parked. My duallies can stay on all night and not even warm up... it actually sucks in the winter cause they can't melt the snow off. These will melt the snow faster than my HIDs I think.

My truck puts out about 13.9V when running. Maybe the current/voltage regulator in the lights doesn't handle high voltage very well and lets too much current through.

The LEDs used in these lights are being driven close to full current if they are really putting out the combined 3600 Lumens quoted by the manufacturer.

I like the lights for the money, but I knew I was buying chinese "crap" and was going to get what I paid for. There are literally hundreds of posts on ADVrider about cracked mounts, faulty dimmers, and bad units. There are almost as many posts saying ADV did right and replaced them.

Off topic, I always try to buy American... but there are times when I can't find anyway to justify the factor of four increase in cost. I just don't have that much money to burn. If these lights die in 3 years, I'll be able to buy the "new" chinese LEDs that are 9000 lumen for the same price as an American made R.I. dually (which I have!).

I hope these little LED pods hold up for a few years!

Just received the lights. Planning on installing them on a front light bar. Are there any wiring harness that make install simple? I am also looking for a light switch (stock look prefered). Any help would be great. Thanks

I would suggest picking up a relay from Radio Shack and looking up some wiring diagrams on TW or google, it isnt all that hard, just have to put the plans on paper first.

If you're lazy you can also tap the lights off a pre-existing circuit like your high beams of fogs so you dont have to run wires into the cab.

on a side note, 4 more people til the 2nd round is full and ends!

Has anyone tried installing these in place of their fog lights? 2012 tacomas would be a better fit for the fogs because they are smaller.

    What you all using?

I've never used Relays before, but I can see why for off road lights. They handle the current instead of the switch. I found these new versions of switches on OTRATTW, they are expected to be avail in June. About $15 each.....For a Driving Light, Off road light, and Rear light (chase lights) rockers it'd run me about $60 and they ship out near June 1st looks like.

Each of these off road lights are 2.5A, and at 12V that means 30 Watt...or 120A total for 4 lights? ....does each light need a relay then?

These switches are rated at 20A @ 12V, so I will get some relays to be safe....The old versions of the switches are on top, the new ones bellow...They look nice! Like Stock!

I'm also debating getting a dimmer for either these lights or others....so then I can use some as driving lights if dim. Don't know if the board on this will not fit in the dash though....and up to 8A in LED lighting...$20

IIRC radio shack spst relays are 40a, so one relay can power 16 lights safely (2.4a per light)

One of the above switches can safely handle 8 lights, and dont cost that much more than a relay, so its a good buy!

Just ordered 2 of these ADV 60's, and am no electrical engineer. I would like to get these to come on with my high beams. Will the stock wireing be able to handle the extra amperage. Can someone point me in the right direction to do this? Should I install a
switch to be able to turn off the 60's if I want or need to? Thanks. Have no problem with cutting and splicing into the stock wire harness.

you should tap into your high beam circuit to have your high beams power a relay that turns on your ADVs.

That's what I needed to hear Blackhawke88, thanks. Trying to think of a situation where I would need to turn off the ADV's when high beam is on, can't. Just going to find a wireing diagrahm and hook em up. Unless someone knows what color wire I'm looking for to splice into the high beam. What size relay should I be looking for, like 20 amp?

I installed these on my wifes 1998 camaro in the stock location just fine....

Buy the dimmer that they sell also on ADV it works great and you can turn them off or on anytime and always on with highbeams...

BUY THE DIMMER! The relay is in it...

These look and fit stock spares... check out this site for all your switch and relay needs:

Quick question. If I am running two lights, do I need two dimmers?

I'm thinking about picking up either two model 30s or two model 60s. I want to use them as a supplement to my high beams to put more light down the road. I already have HID retrofits in my headlights, and it is plenty bright right in front of my vehicle, I just want to throw light down the road a little further when no one is coming to watch for deer and whatnot. Which ones will do better?

No, 1 dimmer can handle 3 model 60 lights! So u just need 1 dimmer and wire both lights to it

As chris said, buy the dimmer with the lights, it comes with a wireless remote and has a wire to tap into ur high beams! If u want to (which I recommend doin if u lose or break ur remote) put a switch in the cab also for these lights! All u need to do is run a seperate power wire to tha cab switch so it will have a constant hot on it! That way u will have 3 options on how to use them: come on with the brights, turn on by the dimmer remote, or come on by the cab remote

Take a look at my night shots from page 14. Those are the 60's.

The 30s are pretty "spotty". If you are looking for throw, get the 30s. The 60s light up everything.
