There are many WWII aircraft crash sites in the deserts of southern California. There were several USAAF training bases in the area.....Lancaster, Victorville, China Lake.

On the dirt road just behind (north of) the old Boron Air Force radar station there is a marked crash site of a B-24J. You can get to the site by driving past the paved road to the radar station and taking a left on the first dirt road.....head west..........please do not take anything from the site except photos.......this is a memorial to the men who died at this location.

I find lots of shot up shit where people make impromptu gun ranges out in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Me and a few buddies got into running all the fire roads/ forest service roads while out there for school. I also find little stacks of rocks everywhere... Kinda creepy and have no idea what they're for. I figured either some kind of trail marker for someone or something the indians have put there. We also found a little 4 wheeler on a trail once that seemed somewhat abandoned so we put a parking ticket on it that I had. I'll try to take pics from now on.

That is a cold war fall out shelter that many Americans had built on their property. In the early 1960's when Cuba had the Russian Rockets a bunch of people built these. My father tells me stories of companys selling these kits at grocery stores. The pipe was a fresh air intake, and there were cots that folded down from the walls. There is usually a steel door at the bottom of the stairs. My friend has one in his back yard at his house in Melbourne, Florida. When we were kids that is where we kept the kegs when we had partys. Nice pics. Kevin

This is one of my favorite threads around here. Someone once linked to a thread like this on another forum, couldn't stop reading.

There are a few neat things at a place I've been hanging out lately. I'll have to take some pics.

When I was 14 years old me and 3 of my friends went out to an old but small bridge we used to jump off of into a river in the summer time. It was winter, a little snow on the ground, the water was low but no frozen. People used randomly throw shit over the bridge...old snow skis, sinks, random crap like that. We were checking out all the junk and my friend saw a plastic sack with a bunch of "somethings" in it. It was fairly far down but we all thought we saw the same thing. Talked my chubby friend Kenny into walking down the side and wading out and grabbing the sack. He tripped, fell in all the way, but still managed to grab the sack prior to whining about "hypothermia" and how he was going to kill us. We were right, it was exactly what we thought, and one of them still worked. What were they?:notsure:

Last one, when my father was a child they built an overpass next to his house. The used some sort of dynamite/explosive to blast through and bunch of rock next to the highway to lay the pilars for the overpass. He said everyone in the neighborhood went out to watch the blast. They had it roped off and the explosive people waited about 3 days before they came back to check the holes, etc. That night, he and his buddy went down to explore and found thousands of "geodes." They thought they were cool and gathered up a bunch of them, some as big as basketballs. He still has them today, and claims when the construction people came back, they removed truckloads of them. Ironically, the size of these things, I guess they're worth like hundreds of dollars, and he could've gotten more, had he not been young and dumb. 2 houses down there was a kid they didn't play with, my father said he was odd. His name was Dennis Rader, better known as the "BTK Killer" later in life.
