sandman just graduated and I bet he would share, he is from CA though so I bet its pretty high.

the last time I paid for a semester I only paid around $1,200 total for 4 classes. 3 of which where online classes. (I didnt pay anything actualy, my GI bill did. and It was also a very small college).

We would probably be a stronger military power if we borrowed trillions of dollars every year and spent it on our military.

Sorry. Did I say that out loud?

In a big city, I'd imagine it'd have to get REALLY bad before the Army gets called in. Most cities have riot control and SWAT that can handle a crowd like that.

Undergrad I believe was 30k/year for tuition alone, room, board, books and fees were all tacked on to that. Currently, the university I went to is $38k/year for tuition.

Let's make an effort not to have this thread decend into the Canada / US cross border tamponathon

The OP is asking a legit question

They interviewed some striking students a couple of months ago. And one particular guy was going on and on about the hikes.

He was wearing a $600 Canada Goose jacket and holding a $400 iPhone. What a joke!

Agreed, there used to be tons of those and they were kind of annoying to be honest...

OZ, how much pull does Formula 1 have up there? Would the city step and clear the protestors out for the race?

What if I told you if would cost about 5k/year to attend one of the country's best universities.

IDK , that weekend brings a lot of money and exposure to the city , I doubt they ( Montreal's civic leaders ) would want to tarnish that .

F1 held a race in Bahrain not too long ago , but I would suggest it would be easier to subdue the crowds when you don't have any respect for civil liberties

OZ, if I may. As a Montrealer, F1 is crucial for our tourism industry, the economic fallout for that one weekend is in the 10's of millions!. The city wouldnt hesitate to step in.

Some states here have great deals for residents. I know, education in the states is ridiculous. Fortunately, I was able to get scholarships and financial aid to help out. Plus, I graduated when student loan rates were at an all time low so overall I made out alright.

yep, we don't let a bunch of college kids control our towns.

What are the thoughts on why Montreal has not stopped this? It is sorta a Canada US thing..US would have stopped it :) Socialists?

You get a permit to assemble and have your event for say 8hrs..that is assembly. This is a riot with what intentions? DO financial harm to businesses in the area.."make people pay for not letting me have my way"

What is the majority party in Montreal for the record? Anyone know

^this. But the canadian gov just made it illegal to protest, so they are protesting that. Sounds to me like they are standing up for their rights.
