    My dad has one as he is always out in the country on job sites and hunting. I only carry cables as I am hardly ever out of the city :anonymous:

    My boss is a country boy and doesnt even carry cables. I had to jump his truck a few weeks back... I have given him shit over it ever since

    Have yet to find an auto that keeps up. Have you driven a 6 speed Taco? I've driven an auto. It is immediately apparent that they do not accelerate as fast. Don't get me wrong. I'm sure they can go just as fast as the 6 speed. Just takes longer to get there;)

    I love Manual but for my sport car!
    "when I was young I thought auto is gay"
    But now I don't really see a reason why would I want a stick for my truck, hwy, and city driving...

    If you think manual is better for offroading, that is correct if you just fooling around in mud puddle and mild offroading. for serious offroad you need auto

    you are confused. I never said anything about a jump pack,.or a corvette,.or even a bump starting practice. Someone else. I always prefer plowing with an auto. Maybe you plow long straight roads or something, but driveways and parking lots will burn up a clutch and your leg at the same time.
    I have however, started plenty of dead battery auto's with a jump pack. it's what they are for. Maybe you should start off in third gear more often, thats good for your clutch I bet.

    Anybody saying about jump pack... no good they don't provide the current needed to overcome both a dead battery and the starter motor. Jump cables can be equally useless if you are somewhere that there are no other cars around to jump from.

    No way,.......both silver? i am convinced now. All these years of driving and I have been wrong. Manuals are easier, last longer, and go way faster. Much more fun in stop and go traffic as one knukklehead put it. Boy,. I hope I get to be as smart as some of the youngsters around here when I get to be their age. lol:D

    Well, that's maybe a little bit of a problem for us manual purists. When I put the truck in 2nd gear or 3rd gear, I want to start out in 2nd gear or 3rd gear, not 1st gear.

    Another question - if you're in 4lo and you put the auto in 2 or 3 position, do you start out in 2nd gear or 3rd gear, or do you again start out in 1st gear?

    See that may be a little bit of a problem if you're trying to crawl over rocks or through sand. You don't want the tranny hunting through gears for you, you want to control the gears yourself.

    If I want to start out in 2nd gear, or 3rd gear, or 4th gear, that's where I want to start out. Not in 1st gear, then the auto tranny kicks me up to whatever gear the auto lever is at. Just pointing out the differences . . . .

    I gladly trade being able to start out in 3rd gear for all the positives of an automatic.
    If you are burning out your auto while plowing I might suggest either a tranny cooler, or 4lo. I NEVER burned out a transmission plowing. I have replaced plenty of clutch disc's during the winter month's however.
    Oh, and the guy who can't stand automatic's in heavy traffic, whats that all about?
    Newbies love the thrill of shifting, old farts fell out of love with it long ago.
