haha nice, man. that's one of the big things for me as well--driveablity as my taco is my only vehicle and would like to keep it that way... that (and of course $$$) is what's keeping my from a SAC right now. A SAS'd truck can remain very drivable if it's done right though.... which is one of my goals for the distant future (like 5 years or so...) we'll see.. :)

its hard tho.... i agree that a sprun front end with a crawl box and only 3 inch springs and 35s could be quiet dailyable.... but on the flip side. is it appropriate for the mrs and i to hop in and roll down town to go to dinner in????? its almost as if, if u go sas u may as well go big. go 4 or 5 inches, 37s or bigger. crwlbox and gears, hell cage/exo may be smart aswell. but then id need a beater for a daily.... what fun is that:)??????

I think a SAS truck can totally be a daily driver. You just have to do it right. This was one of my old daily drivers. '93, SAS, 5" springs, 35's (could have run 37's) Was very comfortable to drive and I would have made the 4+ hour trip to Moab in it no problem.

Not as easy to get into as a Corolla, but my wife didn't complain. Hell, her Cruiser daily driver is just as tall on 35's.

yeah im thinkin any taller than 35s with 3 inch springs will be too big for a daily... im think a crawl box would be a must so i can run on the highway. maybe 4.45s in the axles. but id need assist for it be dailable forsure....

The crawl box will only help you in low range anyway, so its not going to have any affect on your highway driving since the high range will be unchanged with or without a crawlbox.

I didn't have steering assist and never felt like I needed it. No reason to add more expense if you don't need to.

I think you could SAS with 3" springs and 35's pretty easily. Still might need to tub the firewall, but it would be a great height I think and be a lot more capable. You're still gonna get light in the rear on the trail unless you add some weight in the back. I've run with other SAS trucks and the Tacomas are just not balanced well for weight unless you are carrying it in the bed.

thats exactly what im sayin box. a crawl box will enable me to go highway speeds without a problem, and still have an awesome low range. instead of gearing the shit out ofthe axles with 529s and 4.7s in the tcase.... and yes i know about the lighness in the rear. but with added flex in front it acts completely differently. i hate this, i dont know what i wanna do... im really startin to dig runners tho. auto with almost the same lift my taco has would be pimp

You should get a 4Gen? Runner like the wife's. That V8 is nice and with the full time 4WD it still sips gas. I don't know what Toyota did there but they did it right. :D

He did a 3 link in the front which is kinda uncommon. Read the full build and I think it covers that.
