Ive seen multiple shots of the lights installed/placed all over the place except i think behind the grill (which is where I had planned to place mine). Any issues doing this? I think they are sitting on my mailbox at home right now, so excited to check them out.

Shouldn't be any problems the mounts are super simple. You can change it so they are 90* like mine or so the are flat and hang from a bolt. These are great.

For those of you using the wireless Dimmer, do you plan to put a seperate manual switch in for the lights too? Or only control usng the high beams and the key fob?

I might get the dimmer, but I might want to put a switch in too so I don't have to carry around/look for fob or put the high beams on (debating if there's even a case....).

If so, where in the diagram are you putting the switch?
On the power to the dimmer it seems that by taking power away, you'd prolly have to turn it on from the fob once you supply power...

The lights will be fine as long as there is a minimal (read walking speed) amount of airflow. The overheat protection is just that, it protects the light from cooking it self. The small size of the lights make it challenging to shed heat generated by the leds.

Lights can regulate just fine up to 30v. The LEDs are generating the heat, not the VR.

Incorrect. The LED manufacturer Cree recommends a Maximum of 3amps per led or 2amps per if you want to meet the energy star 35,000 hr rating. More info here.

Amazing, you associate crap with Chinese.
The LEDs are manufactured by Cree, a company based in North Carolina.
The lights are designed by a company in Florida.
The lights are assembled by a company in China

    Hope that clears things up.

How do your rigid industries duallies compare to the Model 60s.

Model 60s, way more light output than the spot.

The FOB has an on/off switch on it, in addition to the increase and decrease brightness buttons.

Move along or you can close ur eyes when you get blinded by em:)

I'm worried it might be too much light and not going where I want. Believe it or not, I read this whole thread, and checked out the pics and specs on the website and I'm still not sure. Right now, I mainly want something for dark highways to use in conjunction with my headlights.

Chinese people make pure crap! no of their shit lasts! Just look at me, born and raised in China, moved to the US in 2006, but i lack so much in quality compared to Americans. Definitely dont hire me as I will break in a few weeks :D

Good luck, most shit talkers on TW dont even go out to use their trucks. The people who are out there every other weekend dont even post on here.

Im just a post whore myself and I talk quite a bit of shit too :D

First, I am going to say that I do like the lights and they are great bang for the buck. Having said that, ADVmonster, please don't do the diservice of misrepresenting your product.

    Agreed.

Ok. This is the bit that spooled me up enough to reply. You claim the lights are Cree XM-L T6 LEDs
2.4 amps (28 watts) @12v (from your website). First you are saying that the LEDs are being driven past the 35,000hr energy star limit. Now let's look at some graphs and do the math.
    From the CREE spec sheet:
    So the base (100% rating at 0.700A) is 280 Lumen. 280Lm * 4LEDs = 1,110 Lm.
    If we use the 2.0A 35khr number (blue line): just shy of 250% output. 280Lm * 2.45 * 4 = 2,744 Lm
    Your website spec of 2.4A (green line): just over 275% output. 280Lm * 2.80 * 4 = 3,136 Lm.
    3.0A max rating (not shown): ~325% output. 280Lm * 3.25 * 4 = 3,640 Lm.
Finally, going backwards: 3600 Lm / 4 LED / 280 Lm (base) = 321% efficiency (red line) and damn near 3.0A.

They get HOT because they are being driven hard... OR the design is inefficient and they don't put out the claimed light. I don't have the equipment to measure and I'm not going to bother measuring the current draw... Why? Because I Like the Lights!!

If you want to argue about business ethics, quality control issues, six sigma manufacturing, or product design, I would love to. Let's do that via PM instead of dragging down this thread.
Where a company is based has nothing to do with where the LEDs are manufactured. As of 2008, CREE started shifting more and more of its operations to China.
So... the lights are MADE in China. There are lots of products designed in the US and made overseas.

I love my R.I. lights. They make a bombproof product. I just wish they were more affordable!

Thanks again for the group buy. I hope your business venture goes well and you continue to bring high-performance, affordable products out.

How about a fully water proof, bulletproof, 120deg flood (U2 bin please) we can run a couple of as rock lights, bed lights, and BU lights?

hey Viper you're embarrassing yourself. Take your hard-on for Rigid somewhere else. You're not doing anyone a favor by buying these lights, and you sure are embarrassing me in front of a vendor that I assured would receive a friendly reception on TW :)

    Thanks BlackHawke

Put me down for 2 Model 60's and a dimmer. (PM sent)

(I don't know how I just saw this thread for the first time.)

Is there any rationale for also getting two Model 30 spots to light up down the road?

Do you think mounting them behind the Grillcraft grills will noticeably lessen the output or cause too much scatter?

Has any one mounted them inside the lower air intake? (maybe too low for trowing light down road)
