what causes stuff to break on these trucks? Seems like they're built tougher and get less rough treatment compared to the popular SC trucks, etc...

    Too many to list
My only breakages were caused from crawling up trees and falling off from 6-10ft.

The driveshafts have consistently the weakest spot on them from the factory. The model before mine (green body) were the worst. The newest model (silver body) are beefed up a little bit so I haven't had anything twist on me yet. Outside of that and the occasional 6-10 foot drops out of trees, they are pretty stout! :p

As soon as I get mine waterproofed (hopefully this weekend) I will be able to really hit the trails and see what it can do. I've been very careful with it so far.

The 2.2s are going to give me quite a bit more confidence I'm afraid.

    Understandable.

It's a great truck...I'm just consumed with my SCX10 and Blitz now and never run it. Also have an old T-Maxx that I'm going to sell. Runs fine with a little love. $150. :D

Are you thinking for the ESC?

I'm just going to take mine apart and Plasti-Dip it. Supposedly works pretty damn well. I'll be sure to report back if something shits the bed!

I plan on getting a kit.... Maybe jump right to wraith axles. Wonder what the stock wheels and tires would look like on those axles...

It makes it look like a truck with a 8 inch lift and stock tires

I want some higher speed power on tap but would also like to crawl. I don't plan on submerging the truck but it would see mud and water from time to time. Mostly just something good all around that will run on 2S lipo or 6cell NiMH

I've seen people having good luck with a traxxas xl-5 and a 12T or 55T titan motor. I have two 55t laying around. And apparently a brushed motor is fine in the water.

I got the 540 35turn in my SCX10. Does great, only a little slow at full throttle.

I would go with that. Try both motors and see which one you like better.

Edit- only thing I don't like about the xl5 is it doesn't have a drag brake. Those things work wonders on rocks and slippery terrain

They say if you fiddle with your gear mesh you can give it enough natural drag to not need a drag brake

Also thinking I could run their waterproof servo...

I was told by a guy at the LHS that I would be disappointed at that servo because it doesn't have enough power.
