My apartment is all electric. It sucks, I miss cooking with natural gas. The rig I'm on right now has propane appliances in the kitchen though.

And... wait, you guys can't get porn at work? Your work sucks. Hahahaha most of the rigs have satellite tv, and often they get Playboy. LOL it has created some awkward moments when I walk into someone's office and... oh look what's on the TV! It's ok though, they only watch it for the news, right? ;)

Hooray! Good luck on the interview.

Yup, News stories are where it's at!! Topless news works great too haha. I'm pretty sure they have that over in Europe somewheres.

My apartments currently all electric too but I'll be moving soon enough!

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
I can get all the pictures from TW live just none from funny pictures. I think it's because you just copy the link from the other site and that site is probably blocked on here. I don't usually try to go look at anything else.

Russia! They have the Naked News. I won't post videos here, they're definitely for the over 18 crowd.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
They need to run the pipe in to town first.
The traditional way is still easier and cheaper ( Iron oxide and Aluminum powder ~ whuch you can get kits on ebay).

No. The MWD tools located in the drilling aparatus (called the Bottom Hole Assembly, or BHA) near the drill bit. They measure the inclination (that's the angle up or down from horizontal that the bit is pointed) and the azimuth (the compass direction, in degrees, where the bit is pointed) of the bit. Those numbers, along with our measured depth (how far we've drilled), allow us to calculate where the bit is in 3D relative to where we started drilling. Part of that tool also reads the amount of gamma radiation produced by the rock we're drilling through. Gamma radiation remains fairly constant over a large area in a given layer of rock, so we use gamma to know if we are in the exact layer (usually in 1 ft increments) we want to drill in.

That tool stopped working, so we have no way to determine where we are in our formation or where we are in 3D space. We are blind, basically. If we continue to drill chances are pretty good we'd drill out of our intended target zone. That means lower production on the well, and more importantly for me it means we'd probably have to spend another week out here to fix it. So... 30 or so hours spent picking up new MWD tools will save us lots of time and money given the alternative. But it still adds to the time I am spending here when I'd rather go home.

I have the fun of having 2 trainees on this well, and it's not going so well with one of them. If I tell her she is doing something wrong she takes it personally and starts crying. Last night she told me I am a bitch and said she called my boss and he said I was stupid (come on, seriously?). It's crowded in our 2-man living quarters because we have 3 people, and the space is arranged poorly so I invited her to "roommate" with me if she wanted to, it was her choice. Now she's told my boss I kicked her out of her room and she has nowhere to sleep. Drama queen. This is the first time I've been in a situation like this, I'm not sure how to handle her and I'm pretty close to telling her to pack up her crap and leave. I just got promoted and I'm not sure how much authority I have in that regard so it's kind of awkward. Told my boss what was going on and he said keep him informed and if it gets worse he'll take care of it. So much more than usual, I really, really want to go home. Tired of this one.

EDIT: And she chews on my pens. :puke:

    That's some pretty good advice, from a 6-year-old :p

Ya. I found out where she used to work and I know a guy who used to work with her, I guess she's been run off rigs and fired from consulting companies for similar behavior, bringing alcohol on a rig, and sleeping on shift. The funny thing is it's all her own doing, she's so miserable and it's all come from her own actions. Yesterday she was threatening to go get a motel room because of our living situation. It was 100% her choice to move, then move back, now she's basically taking up the entire trailer, we have to work around her stuff so I asked her to clean it up. She snapped back at me, "I'll just go get a motel room, that's what you want isn't it? You don't even want me here, I'll just go find a motel room!" I shrugged and told her to do what she needs to do, it's up to her. She tells lies to cover up other lies and she doesn't do her job. She was mad yesterday because I wouldn't go to the bar with her. And this morning she's being just the sweetest thing ever, asking if I'd like to watch the movies she rented, etc. It's bizarre and I'm tired of it.

Alright. I'll stop bitching now. :D

I seek merriment to raise my spirits. Or spirits to raise my merriment. Something. The drama at work is only getting worse. Told my boss today I won't work with her anymore, he's moving her tomorrow hopefully.

Sorry, it's one of those things that's funny to a geologist. And I'm not sure I can even explain why it's funny... it just is.
