How does it do with the natural elements? Wind, rain, etc.

 

We havent really had it for too long. But with the wind that was in Moab it did really well. It is really easy to set up and take down within minutes. And you can pack it up with the rainfly still attached. We just have a large rei brand compression sack that we fold and stuff it in that fits behind the rear seat in the cab.

whats new with the parents jeep by the way?

 

Gonna be ordering parts this week and getting them on as soon as they come in.

 

Did they break something?

 

Ya we think so on Trifecta. When we started Kane everything was fine and on that small hill (in the pictures). The body twisted and we discovered that the front body mount was missing and that somewhere we snapped the drivers rear leaf spring pin and lost the short leaf. We discovered the body mount because when the frame twisted it raised the body and the radiator fan nicked the lower hose..... So we had to limp out the jeep and trailer it and that was the rest of the trip pretty much for us.

 

Bummer. I think it might have happened on the last ledge on Gold Bar Rim where we winched BTNewman and your inlaws. When they were trying to make that climb the rear axle was twisting like crazy. That's why I told him to stop and we would winch him. I'm sure there must have been a broken leaf at that point to allow it to twist like that. I'm glad he stopped though, because it could have easily been a broken pinion. That would have made for a long evening for us had that broken.

 

That it would have. But just ordered new leaf packs and bushings for the rearend. So hopefully we will be back up and going next week sometime.

 

Awesome looking trip! Anyone go up or down Hells Gate? Good job Steve O, rockin moab with a near stock platform. That seems gutsy to me. Box Rocket, any vid of your truck tackling the Golden Crack?
