Installed front 5100 and rear AAL

Ya Im very happy I went with the 1.75 an kept the 4th leaf in the rear

 

so wait..newbie question..i feel like i should know this..if i get the adjustable billy 5100's for the front..i set them to 2.5 and i use the stock coils? or do i need OME 885's? and do i need billy's for the rear? or just a 2" AAL? so confused..ive read into this so much that i confused myself lol..

 

dont need billys in the rear but i would highly recommend it. The ride is great compared to the TRD billys so i couldnt imagine how much better from the normal ones

 

You can use the stock coils AND set them at 2.5, if you get the ome 885 you can only set them at 0 or .85.... You dont need the billy in the rear but it rides soooo much better with them.....

 

Thanks guys..that's what I thought..I have no problem getting Billy's all the way around..illhave the back off anyways for the AAL..might as well change them out..

And I'm sure this has been covered..but do you think the MPG will drop if I just lift her..and keep the stock tires? I run about 600-700 miles a week on her..600 all highway..the other 100 city miles or so..so until I limit that..I want to keep the mpg's about the same..

 

Lifting that little wont drop your mpg's, bigger tires is what kills mpg's (just ask my 285's )

doubt lifting it will much. Maybe 1mpg. But the bigger tires will kill you. I lost about 3 mpg after my lift. I lost 6 originally when it was winter and the temp dropped and winter gas came and I was freaking out. But Im up to about 23 now so Im happy with the BFgoodrichs

 

Thanks. To answer some of your questions all I used was the toytec AAL 1.5" and the bilstein 5100's. The toytec AAL's were around $80 or $90. The 5100's were about $160 or so. Both have vendors on Tacoma world at discounted prices. If you are looking to put the front at 2.5", I would suggest upper control arms.

Your truck will ride different. It's a firmer feel. Some people like and some don't. It's all a matter of personal preference. I like it because I felt the factory ride was a bit sloppy. However, I didn't put the upper control arms on, so my front end feels a bit squirrelly sometimes.

From what I understand that should be alright. Yes, I used my factory springs. If you go with different ones that will probably help with the firm feeling of the factory spring.

Maybe not as much as you thought. Did you do the math to convert for the different final drive ratio?

 

I bought my 5100s (all 4 corners) and Toytec's 1.5" AAL. I was convinced I wanted to set them at 1.75" but now I'm thinking the 2.5" setting looks better. What are my chances I won't need UCAs...50/50, 25% chance I will?

 

So I'm thinking of Billy's all around with the front at 2.5". I don't have the TSB in the rear but I was wondering about just getting a completely new leaf pack? I know the All-Pro leaf pack gives a 3" lift so if I did that I would have a rake which I don't want. Should I just do the TSB and 1.5" AAL? How would the ride compare? Any other leaf pack recommendations?

Tires would be 265/75/16.

 

I looked into the same thing. Best advice I got was measure from the road to the bottom of your fender for the front and rear. The difference between the front and rear is the amount you will need in the front to level it. Anything greater than that "difference" will give you a rake.

For my truck, if I raise it 2.5" in the front and put a 1.5" AAL in I will have a 0.5" rake.

 

What tire size is that?

 

Did you have problems with getting your caster in spec too?
