Air Bag suspensions

I am towing a 23' Keystone Hideout that weighs 4800 lbs dry which I end up about 5500 lbs wet. I have a weight distribution hitch and a friction sway control. The brake controller I have sucks but I am going to replace that anyway. My concern is that I get quite a bit of porpoising (bouncing up and down) when I tow. I have the heavier leaf springs and the tow package. Will a product like the Firestone Riderite air bags help eliminate this? It makes my wife sick riding in the truck over distance and as we all know, if mama ain't happy, no ones happy. Please help!

 

I towed my 5000 lbs trailer once without the air bags and that was enough for me. Installed the Firestone kit and now with 25 lbs of air and a properly set up equalizer hitch, the truck rides level and is firm (no bouncing) without being too stiff in the rear. Another plus is it was very simple to install. No need to pay a shop to do it.

 

they should help. i had a set on my previous truck(chevy colorado reg cab) and would haul a 4wheeler in the bed and it would ride fairly smooth.
just have to remember to let the air out after towing or it'll be a rough ride.

 

Ditto. The bags are great. Install is straight forward.

I went a season without them. I should have put them in right off the bat.

 

Hey guys. I'm new to the whole air bag concept. I see the Firestone airbag kit here, but also see the recommended on-board compressors at the bottom. Are these needed? If not, do you just use a standard air compressor to fill the bags prior to towing?

 

The on board compressor is nice but not completely necessary. You can us a biycle pump or any small 12v compressor to pressurize them. I have the on board compressor and love being able to adjust the air pressure on the fly while driving down the road.
A good stiff E rated tire will also help a lot for stabilizing the truck. Larger tires can flex and contribute to the bouncing. I stick with 245/75R16 for towing.

 

Any idea where I can find an airbag kit for my 2012 TRD Sport? (Four door with tow package, 4x4)
