I recently ordered somw wheels n tires from desert rat.com only for them to call me and tell me that the wheels wouldnt fit my 06 pre runner. They said i would have to have 17 inch wheels or larger. Is that correct and if so what size all terrain tire could i run on a 17 under a stock truck?

For some reason most aftermarket rims that are 16s won't fit because it'll hit the caliper

1" lift from 3rd gen suspension, 265/75/16 ATs
There are only a few aftermarket 16" wheels that will fit. American Racing Mojave are one of the ones that fit.

On stock wheels you can run 265/70/17 without any lift. With aftermarket wheels it also depends on backspacing. My Mojave's are 4.5bs compared to stock 5.5, they stick out more and I had to loose front mudflaps. I have 265/75/16 which are same diameter as 265/70/17.

will 265/70/17 rub ANYTHING when making U-Turns? I make U-turns everyday. My rims are 17x7.5 with 4.5 backspacing on stock 05 TRD Taco. My old crappy 265/65/17 tires dont rub and time for upgrade.

I don't have front mud flaps so that's not an issue.

There are some 16" wheels that won't fit due to their design which interferes with the caliper. Our 16" F-5 model will clear the calipers without any issues.
