Camping at Knoll Lake in May

You're a good man. We'll get a better head count here in the next few days I would assume. Some will drop off the list I'm sure.

Since I am in Tucson I would have to depart around 6am Friday in order to meet you guys in Fountain Hills at 8am. Still debating on taking off Thurs after work...either way I'll be there till Sunday afternoon.

 

Talked to boss. I'm in. need ucas put in, new water pump and serp belt, and tint. Will do this week.

May 22, 2012- Knoll Lake fishing report: FISH ON!
KNOLL LAKE -- Fishing is excellent. This remote lake has been stocked, and anglers have been doing very well here for both stockers and holdover trout. It sounds like inline spinners have been more effective than prepared baits or night crawlers, but experiment. The bite can be changeable.

 

If we had a small boat with a trolling motor, we'd be killing it with spinners. It's a little tougher from the shore to get a spinner bite, but I always haul in the trout on power bait suspended about 2-3 feet off the bottom. It's the color that changes by the day. Sometimes they only hit yellow, sometimes green, etc. I've always done well on this lake for stocker trout, with an occasional holdover (but usually those are caught with live minnows, on a fly rod, or while trolling deep)

 

Cool. I caught this Brownie @ Reservation lake a couple of weeks ago, while turkey hunting in the white mountains 17". I only fly fish these days. Big lake is doing really well, I like the seclusion of Knoll and some good fish in that DEEP lake.

I have an extra float tube, if someone wants to borrow it and get out in the heart of the lake away from shore...

OP updated with Friday meeting spot in Fountain Hills (at the McDonalds/Circle K at 6am). If you are in the Friday group, be there or be catching up to us. I want to grab a quick breakfast, top off gas, and hit the road at 6:30am.
