For sale is a LSD assembly which will fit all 2005+ Toyota "8.4" housings.
This LSD has less than 2000 miles on the unit and is in pristine working order. I have also had the unit disassembled and the clutch packs inspected to insure there are no hidden issues. The clutches showed virtually no wear and are essentially brand new. The assembly also comes with a complete shim kit which is necessary to install, read: properly install, the LSD and set proper backlash. Two brand new premium bearings also come with the sale. All in all, this is a steal. I had bought this as a spare, although no longer have the truck, nor a use for it. Will fit any 2005+ Tacoma with the so called "8.4" rear end. Serious inquires only.

    Included:
    (1) 8.4 LSD assembly (Toyota OEM part)
    (1) Housing Gasket
    (2) Carrier Bearings
    (1) Complete Shim Kit (Randy's Ring & Pinion)

$245 shipped anywhere in the continental US. Please contact me if you are out of country. For your safety, and mine, I will only accept PayPal transactions as payment.

    PRICE REDUCED!

This isn't the e locker? If not how do you install? I had been looking at lockers and gears but unsure if this will work...

As mentioned, the 8.4" rear end came as standard equipment with all non-TRD OR 6 lug trucks. I believe the third member was different in the 5 lugs due to the low gearing IIRC.

How do I ensure this fits my truck? 09 PreRunner Sr5

Also is there install instructions? Or better off letting a shop do it?

No installation instructions are included, and professional installation is recommended. I have done a few myself, and they are not difficult, but proper tools such as a dial indicator are needed to set proper backlash. Any reputable drivetrain shop can install it for you. If you think you are up for it, you could purchase a dial indicator and do it yourself after a little research.

To answer your question, yes this limited slip will fit your truck. It will fit all NON trd-off road 05+ Pre-Runner and 4x4 Tacoma, including the sport models. All of these trucks come equip with the 8.4 rear end from the factory.

Man I'm tempted. I'm gonna be ready to trade for a lower mileage rig in a year or so and I'm gonna miss my LSD.

Make me an offer if you're interested. It's a cool paper weight and all, but I'd rather see it have a better home being used for what its intended!

I've paid 450 - driving the truck into the shop. Your mileage may vary.

It'll cost less if you unbolt the third member, take it out and hand-carry it into a differential shop.

Doing it this way (removing the diff yourself and taking it to the shop for the specialty work) is this is within the capability of most reasonably handy TW members and home mechanics. In that case - labor's more like 250-300.

Depends greatly on what shop you take it to. The best axle shop in town quoted me $320 for a similar setup (LSD into third) with the same amount of labor involved. That included a no questions warranty. It can be done for less, and also more. anything over 350 seems very steep IMO. There are no parts required for the install as they are already here. Simply labor. Removing the third and setting up new diff is a relatively quick job.

I'm interested...I miss the real LSD from my 08 truck, I just wonder if the true LSD would play nicely with the Traction control/ Auto LSD in my 2010 truck when the snow comes...Anybody have any input?
