can anyone think of good performance upgrades without going forced induction on a 4.0l v6? and a good sequence to phase it over a couple of years?

Well there are a lot of threads on this forum that answer that very question, however, I would first put in a afe pro dry drop in filter, long tube headers, DT pipe bomb, muffler of choice, then either the MAF Cal or APR X-1 for a tune. I would also run synthetic oil and premium fuel. I think thats about it. Try looking at www.urdusa.com for a majority of these mods.
    Good luck buddy!

I'm bolting on the TRD Cold Air Intake and TRD stainless exhaust system this week, not all that expensive and don't mess up your warranty.

    You are going my route.

Intake - AFE / TRD brand
URD - MAF (only software option currently on the market)
NST Pulleys - Prive for very low gains (If you find under drive pulleys let me know)
Headers - JBA for low mid power / Doug holey for higher end power
(option) race cats - won't pass CA smog but NY you are good. (or cat delete but will need URD setup)
    Cat back exhuast stock diamiter
Lighter wheight rims - Less unsprung mass helps MPG and performance
Brake upgrades - Stoptech fronts and disc conversion rear
Stainless lines - upgrading brakes so go all the way

    there you go.

URD MAF Cal is not the only "software" option. The APR X-1 is a true tuner/software option.

"Cat back" systems tend to cost more then you need pay-Just get a good muffler welded into the stock tubing for like 100-120.

And the rear disc conversion has not gone well for some folks in the past....Decreased stopping power and loosened brake feel.

I agree with your over all plan tho. A good filter, good muffler, and a tuner will do the trick for a bit more power. Pulleys and Cams if you want to supercharge it...the amount of power you want is the important decision factor.

You aren't going to get alot of power from regular mod without going to force induction.
