Don't anyone say super charger cuz i dont have $3000+ dollars sitting around haha.

I'm debating going with either doug thorley short headers, a URD maf cal, or the NST intake manifold spacer. I'm looking for low end power since i'm never above 3k RPM, thus the reason why i dont want the long tubes. I know the maf cal only works in open loop, but i still feel like i would feel it when i really get on the gas up hills or whenever, which doesn't necessairly mean i have to be in the high end all the time right? Someone correct me if i'm wrong. And although the reviews of the spacer are limited on tacomas, everyone i talked too that has/had the spacer enjoyed it and noticed a difference.

The spacer would be cheapest @ $300 since i can't solder and thus would need to get a harness from URD to run the maf cal so it'd be about $400, and the headers after install i'd imagine to come out to about $600

i'm looking at less than $500 preferably. The headers (including install) would be the most i'd spend

I always wonder when I see these threads.... What would 8-15 extra HP REALLY do for you? Are you racing? Does your top speed need to be higher? Or, are you just playing the penis game? "Ha haaaa, my truck has more horsepower than yours." Not giving you a hard time,I'm just really curious.

Me too, but at the same time, I believe that it is boils down to a word choice. Most likely they are all actually referring to TQ. A little extra of that anywhere will makes a nice improvement everywhere. ;)

Is your truck auto, or manual? 4x4 or pre?

Just took a quick peek at tbd OP's build thread. He has a Manual 4x4. Easiest things to do to free up power, are to lighten up heavy drive train and accessory components. Pulleys, flywheel, driveshaft, and wheels.

Reduce the parasitic losses of the heavy components. Makes it easier for the engine to put the power to the ground, by making its work more efficiently used. Reducing the weight of all of those components, will increase the whole power band, from start to finish. HP and TQ.

The gains will be most noticeable if no other performance parts are added, if you were just trying to do a before and after of lighter components. And no other heavier parts were added, such as armor. I only say those last parts, if you are trying to see a diffinitive difference. Regardless, the gains will still be had.

www.nonstoptuning.com. For light weight pulleys. www.urdusa.com for lightweight flywheels. Me, if you want to buy my light weight one piece driveshaft. ;)

Sorry on the late comments, power has been out for the past day and a half. But yes I gave a manual and am really looking for low end torque as you said, which I believe can be felt most readily. I haven't looked into the lightweight pulled from nst, just the intake manifold spacer which many on xru recommend. It was really between that spacer and getting the URD maf cal to open up my intake and exhaust more. I will look into the pullies tho

Thank you for your input, and I've been keeping up with ur build on here and on xru, very impressive

You are welcome, and thank you as well.

I am still wanting to find someone here local to me, to do some, low rpm starting point, before and after NST manifold spacer dynos. If I cannot find any body, then i will just have to wait until my built engine is back.

Well I understand that you've not done the definitive testing on the manifold spacer yet, but if you had to recommend either the nst manifold spacer, the nst pullies, or the urd maf cal, which do you think I would "feel" the most gains with? Like I said I already have the Afe stage 2 si and an aero turbine muffler

First thing, since I can tell that you are quite interested in the MAF Cal, is call and speak with Gadget about the MAF Cal. Let the man himself explain in great detail exactly where the MAF Cal will be best useable in the rpm range, since you are mainly looking for low rpm range.

What he says will be a very good starting point.

I know that I have enjoyed my crank anc water pump pulley for a few years now. You will feel an immediate improvement in throttle response. Will the potential gain from the pulleys, per price alone, be equitable to the potential gains of the MAF cal probably not.

Combined though, they will be a very nice improvement.

Thanks man, I have emailed him but I think he's been very busy lately as others have said its been tough to reach him, plus it's a holiday weekend. Maybe I'll give him a call later this week

    This /\

Then, remove your bed, throw on some 155/50 R14s, air em up to 60psi, take out all your interior panels and passenger seats. Remove your bumpers, front driveshaft and dash. Go on a diet and get to 2% body fat.
All this should get you a 0-60 drop of a second or better!!! You can get up for work later cuz you'll be so much faster.
