10 hours of weeding vs 15 minutes of weedwackin and 2 hour of planting seems much more economical.

 

It's all ivy, thick thick ivy. Goes the entire front of the house like this, 3-4 times as much as seen in the picture. Previous owners suck, they made all these gardens and shit, then got old and let it go. I've spent the past 2.5 years ripping it all out. Gotta be some power tool or technique I can use to rip out all of this ivy. That's as far as I got in a half hour and I'm completely drenched in sweat.

Roundup, wait 3 days...use a metal rake

 

Weedwacker won't do shit. It's literally a foot deep or more of ivy, the roots at the bottom are as thick as a finger.

It would probably laugh at roundup.

Maybe a power de-thatcher or tiller that I could hook up to the tractor

 

Cut the handle off a long camping fork thing for fires and insert in a cordless drill put on low gear and see if it wraps it up

 

You would be surprised what ALOT of round up can tackle....it will be more so to loosen the roots than it is to kill it completely...

 

Had the same problem at my old house with the ivy crap. You wont eliminate it. I used gallons of round up and it came back every year. Best you can do is keep it under control. Option two: totally strip mine the whole area at least a foot or so deep and a few feet in the yard. The root system is insane. You then need to get rid of all the dirt you removed and but new clean stuff.

Not to bad for 5th days of work. Every thing has to be taken down each night and another set gets put up the next morning. Got to love repertory theater. There is tons of more stuff that is built in the wings. Three beds that travel two more walls that travel, and a couple of metal railings for the bridge that we still need to attach. The round up with the heavy rake should work. I think I have every kind evasive vine growing in my yard it seams the round up in a heavy concentrate works well.

 

You guys are thinking way too small. It goes down the hill on the left a little bit farther and the stuff on the left is about 6-10 feet between grass and house. I think I need to rent a skid steer and a dumpster.

 

Get yourself some black plastic and cover that shit for a month, rake up the dead shit. Your welcome.
