Hey i live in indio 2 hours from you, what dealership did you go to? , I got my TSB done 5 months ago at Toyota Of The Desert in cathedral city. Maybe there charging you $400 because you went over 36,000 miles?

Well I went in this morning and said all the right things. They looked under my truck and said that the driver side rear bushing had some rub on it from bottoming out. He needed to go through all the correct channels (Toyota Regional) and he would get back to me in the next day or two. I had a good vibe that they wanted to keep me happy. I am feeling good about getting this done.

    Question?

When they call me back to schedule the TSB work (crossing my fingers) they have to do an alignment. What if I scheduled it for a Monday and the day before I put some sweet Billy's on the front. You think they would raise a stink? That way I can get my alignment paid for by Toyota!

Well $380 its not bad at all for labor if you already 36,000 miles over, Go for it, some dealerships will tell you to pay the whole $1,800 plus labor

Oops, I have to clarify that I didn't realize you were over 36k miles, I guess I mis-spoke...

I had the TSB and my headlights are definitely lower. I need to raise them but wanted to see if it settled. I'm not sure how to adjust them but I'm sure it's easy. I'm just too lazy to research it.

I told the wife I can't figure it out so I should order 5100's to level it out instead :D

    She didn't fall for it!

Nice work! I'm kicking myself for not doing that.

I've talk to multiply people that work at car shops and they all said that getting new springs don't require a alignment WTF?

Because you're moving the vehicle up and down not side to side.

I just had mine done today and haven't notice much of a difference, but my seat is a bit uncomfortable now due to the angle. The headlights need to be readjusted. Perhaps HID and 5100 here I come.

my dealership that did mine said it's not and I was like its in the TSB and went on some more spill on why it's not.

I called a few shops around and they all said it's not necessary.

I believe the dealership did an alignment on my 2009 after putting in the TSB springs.

Now that I think about it...why would you need an alignment if you are ONLY adding the rear springs on a TRD model? They didn't touch my front shocks as I already have the upgraded ones from the factory. All they did was swap out the leaf packs.

An alignment would be required if they were replacing the front shocks.

That was my thought, and I would at a car shop too. I don't think there is a need for an alignment.

First off, I did not want to fight with the dealer i bought the truck from because they were the best from the beginning and worked a great deal and located the truck i wanted . I took my main beef up with Toyota they know what they are doing with the build of this truck is just plain wrong. I called Toyota 4 times and finally got the right guy on the phone . He sent a an email to my dealer asking them to look up something on the tech hotline this would allow the dealer to do the job and get paid for it . So in the end I had the backing of my Dealer and service to get this done and it worked out to be a win /win for both of us . The truck ride 200% better even with nothing in the bed. I am glad i pushed for this ,i can finally enjoy my new truck . :) jacktautog

Toyota all weather floor mats. Mag light that clunks around in the jack compartment. Dog hair. Dog drool on the windows.
Yes there is. anytime a spring is unmounted the alignment should be checked.
the tsb dos not call for an alignment, but to check the alignment.

Doesn't an alignment only check the front wheels?

The front springs are NOT TOUCHED during TSB work on the 09 TRD's. They are only replacing the rear leaf packs because the TRD's already have the improved shock and springs assembly.

So why the alignment if they are not doing anything at all to the front of the truck?

Yes, if shocks and/or springs are replaced or adjusted in the front, an alignment is necessary.

I dropped mine off this morning for the TSB and the service manager told me they are doing the alignment. I made sure to double check with him...

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
the tsb does all for an alignment...even ifthe front is not touched. if u raise the rear of the truck, it will cause some of the specs to maybe not go out out, but close. just another way for toy. to cover their ass

I guess I didn't think about the different rake the TSB causes on the front. I will check my paperwork tonight and ensure they did the alighnment. I'm pretty sure they did.
