Picked this thing up for $50 after selling my kenwood 800 today. It's a zapco AG 360.. Does anyone know anything about it? I plan to run my door speakers and a single 8 in the rear, what do you audio gurus think?

    Or older lol
All I know is I have always liked the old school stuff better quality wise so when I saw it I immediately wanted it! I actually ended up gettin it for free plus made 40 from the sale of the other amp so I couldn't go wrong. I looked it up on some audio forums and they said its easily a $150 amp and that's "cheap" for it apparently so it must be pretty decent, I just couldn't find any info about the power ratings but I was planning to downsize to a RF p2 8" sub and I have hertz in the doors so for that little system I imagine it will be perfectly done if not more

Around $26,000 worth of unleaded in the fuel tank.
That's a killer amp! you can hook up many woofers if you wanted to, but it would make a really good amp for mids and highs. $50 is a super cheap price. i would keep it and not get rid of it. Way better than Kenwood.

Well technically it was free plus I made $40 buying it cause the kenwoo I don't pay for and the kid gave me $80 for it. Dude told me 50 so I looked it up and dust have a problem giving it to him when I saw what it was worth. I plan to just run the front stage and a rear sub at 4 ohm on it and t should be decent just got to figure out all the damn adjustment knobs!

Adjusting the level controls will depend on the output power from the rca outputs of the headunit. Very high is like 9volts average is less than 4 volts. Turn the system on with the amp input levels turned up and listen for white noise (hiss) through the speakers then adjust the amp input levels down until the noise can barely be heard. That is called the noise floor, the less noise the better. This will ensure that during silent parts of songs it won't have a hiss. That's the quick explanation.

Zapco is a solid amp. The AG series are pretty old.

The 360.4 (I assume 4 channel based on your desire for fronts + sub).

    IIRC, they were rated at:

    50x4 @ 4 ohm
    90x4 @ 2 ohm
    180 x 2 @ 2 or 4 ohm (1 ohm stable channels, safe to bridge to 2 ohm)

They were underrated a bit, but nothing to worry about.

    Solid amps.

Thanks for the info, it seems pretty solid and sounded good before I unhooked it from the other guys truck. So with it being 180x2 I should be fine with running the RF p2 8" sub if it's at 2 ohm on the rear channels? Only thing is for the 2 rear channels it says they are 2 ohm but bridged DIY says 4 ohm,...so should I just hook it to one side or bridge it?

It should be a good amp. It actually is not related to Rockford Fosgate. Robert Zeff started Zapco about the same time Jim Fosgate started up here in Phoenix (mid-late 70's). The reason it says 4 ohms bridged is because the amp will take the 4 ohm load and split it between rear channels sending a 2 ohm load to each channel...it should double the rated power of each channel and then add both channels together when bridged. If you run a 2 ohm load to the channels bridged, each channel will see a 1 ohm load. Some amps can handle that low of a load, some can't. A good forum for old school equipment is diyaudio.com

Avoid bridging an amp whenever possible.

You should run front and rear 6.5" components off of it. Or hook up 4 dual voice coil 10" subs. Smaller woofer cones won't distort in shape as much as larger ones of the same material.

My fronts are 6.5 hertz but the rear are stock so I'm just going to run them off the head unit for now. So I'll run the hertz on the front 2 channels then probably bridge the rear channels for he sub once I can get it

    Got it installed wednesday evening!
    1cbd3898_48ae3478735ea595aa15f3a462f2dfca35577e97.jpg
Gotta clean the wires up still but im still tuning

Started messing with the tuning and whiile i got it sounding good through the tuning on the headunit i still hardly hear any voice from the front speakers... I have the fade slightly to the rear and the rear speakers running off the headunit alone make a world of difference and everything midbass is sounding good, i just though id hear a bit more voice from the Hertz up front. & i also have to turn the volume up to about 25-30 to really hear it good where before it was more like 15-20.

Not exactly sure on what the settings on the amp are but i will say its nothing over halfway on any of them, but like i said it sounds good and clear as long as i have the rear playing to... with just the fronts the only voice i hear comes from the factory tweeters and the tweeters on the 6.5... Any suggestions??

& maybe this is how its supposed to sound, ive never had experience with 4 channel amps so idk. Just looking for some instructive criticism on this thing and maybe sounding even better than now! Its already a huge improvement over stock!

Figured thia ahit out, i never ran the second set of RCA's for the rear and front channels and instead used the ones that were already there for my previous amp which was hooked to the sub outputs
