SRS warning light came on tonight. Hoping it's just the clock spring. Guess I'll have to take it to Elko Toyota since I'm leaving in the morning.

Check out page 7 and then this thread. Basically I had a guy cut 2" out of my flares and bond them back together.

Then I traced along the fenders a little over 2" up from the bottom. I then made vertical cuts up to that line and folded them up. I could have just cut the whole thing out but I figured if I wanted to put back on stock flares ever I could unfold the sheet metal. On some areas you might have to cut the tabs off, just don't cut off the ones that you bolt the flares to on the bottom.

I used an angle grinder and a cut off wheel, but I'd try an air saw next time. Cut off wheels tend to bubble the paint. I just sanded down the edges and primered over the cuts.

The clips from Toyota are expensive, or at least at my dealer, so I ended up buying some from Fastenal and I got a deal on some from Toyota from a friend.

Just recently I cut up my fender liners and riveted them back in.

If I did it over I'd probably take 2.5 or 3" out of the flares.

I also bent the stock fender supports in the rear, all four of em, and made them fit. Then I added some supports out of flat stock from the bed to just above the bumper at the bottom of the flare. The rear fender is very solid now, just like stock.

Also, you'll have to cut the shit out of the cab mount, and flatten the pinch weld, and pound back the firewall. Just pull your coilover, and assemble it all back together without the coilover and you can jack the tire up and turn it every which way and find where you rub.

    Good advice!

I'm looking into a high clearance fender flare design myself. If I do make them they'll look similar to the bushwhackers but mount from the outside using the stock fender holes... Just need more time...:(

You know, both of my 3rds have shit the bed doing really non-aggressive stuff as well.

I dunno what it is with these stock diffs. Toyota needs to beef the things. Hoping the new Chase-built diffs in my near future hold up better.

You can hope. IDK, seems like lots of people are fine with new ring gear/pinions. Not sure if my side gear was a fluke or not.

Another way to phrase that would be:

If these new diffs still don't hold up, I'm ripping the whole housing out from under the truck and putting on something that will.

    lol ^

In other news... SRS warning light came on recently. Finally had time to deal with it, Autozone and Oreilly can't scan airbag system so I had to take it to the dealer. Though I've had some displeasure with Reno Toyotas service dept before they didn't give me shit about not wanting my gas pedal cut, they just had me sign a waiver, really simple. Like expected and hoped, so as to avoid any expense, my spiral cable went south with just 55k miles on the truck. Parts ordered. Picked up my truck and they had even washed it. I'll be damned.

Also got a quote for a new axle shaft and all needed parts. ~1100 $ LOL

    Used assembly yes please.

Yeah, quotes from Toyota for parts are always amusing. They wanted ~$600 per strut for my 2003 Corolla, meaning replacing my blown shocks would've run me about $2400. They do not sell the shock outside of the strut assembly apparently. I opted instead to pull my struts, take them to my local guy and have him swap in some Monroe stuff from Advance Auto. Total cost was about $300 parts and labor. If I had a solid spring compressor, I'd've only been out the $100 or so the shocks cost and a couple hours of my time.
