4wd with bald tires > 2wd with whatever flavor of the day amazing high traction tires.

And yes, locker > ATRAC > TRAC > open diff

Well, going to BBQ now. Wasn't trying to fight or argue.

I am just trying to interject some sanity into this. Most people are too caught up in terminology and marketing gizmos. If you have a 4x4 vehicle and you want better traction, forget about installing new devices like additional nanny traction controls and just get good tires. That, combined with your driving skills and knowing how to manage the throttle in iffy situations, you will be set. Trust me. The nanny devices will only take you so far. In the end, you will still need to rely on your driving skills.

Let's not get too silly-4WD is only good if you can transfer that power to the ground and bald tires make that very hard in most terrain types. It also depends on the driver.

None of this is really germane to the OP tho. The question was about the difference between the Sport and the OR....not what is better or making up scenarios where one or the other is better...

looking at weight distribution... the ass end of a pickup doesnt get much traction regardless of tire selection. Front end does with the engine sitting over it.

What happens if that super duper high traction tire is hanging up in the air because youre teeter tottering across the opposite tires?

Haha. I figure I get at least a 30 hp boost because my truck came with a trd sport sticker.that means something. It says Toyota racing development. It means I like to live in the fast lane. Oh yeah.

It also has something called lsd, which is a super high tech technology developed by trd engineers and scientists. Basically, it means I won't ever get stuck in the snow. It is magic and the offroad trims don't have it. The chics dig it.

Move out of my way. I'm coming through.

    Sincerely,

    Johnny Bravo.

The other day I ordered some replacement TRD Off-Road stickers from Toyota. I secretly didn't tell them that I "only" had a Sport. As soon as I put the Off-Road stickers on, I watched in utter amazement as one of the empty blanks on my dash panel magically transformed into an A-TRAC button! Now I can drive ANYWHERE!

I saw a Ford Exploder a few years ago with a Hemi emblem on it, I think it gave him an additional 100 hp. :D At least he drove like it did.

Do you want a locker or not? Its that simple! Shocks, tires and rims are the first to go for most of us but its like buying a house.....you look for the guts/foundation and just change the cosmetics of it!

If you do some decent wheeling, you'll want a locker!

    Agree 100%

So with that reasoning get an SR5 4x4 and add the lift , lockers and tires

FTFY. :D *Dons flame retardant suit*

I got the Tacoma because the Jeep isn't great for pulling a trailer or long road trips, and I can't throw a bike in the back. So the Rubi will get me to work and around town, and the Toy will get me to the track and Deal's Gap. :D
