Around $26,000 worth of unleaded in the fuel tank.
Wait...wrap an amp? Why? The amp has to get rid of heat.

Just put FatMat on the rear wall of my double cab. What a difference. I have some left over. When I add door speakers I will do the doors. I have a new found respect for guys that do their whole truck at once. Its not the toughest project in the world, but it is a task thats for sure.. But its definitely worth every second and every penny, IMO.

Works great at doing what? What do you think you've accomplished? And how much like ass does your truck smell right now?

less road noise than before, and my truck smells like blueberries! A lot of caged desert trucks here do it and my cab is really quiet even after caged, and it helps reduce the bypass noise:

Well here's the thing. You live in an area that gets very hot. That stuff is tar based. Unfortunately when the temperature gets up there next summer it's probably going to melt and smell pretty terrible.

The material you used isn't very thick either so it's not really much of a noise barrier. Truth be told, you could have lined your truck with anything....latex, snot, or paper mache and you may have noticed a "difference".

The proper stuff is more expensive because you don't need as much to get BETTER results. The foil thickness on the back is important because that's the real constraining layer. The substrate needs to be viseoelastic meaning that when stretched it moves but returns to it's original shape. Tar that's been heated doesn't do that.

If you're happy with the results then that's awesome. I'm just hoping you don't regret it come next summer. :(

had it in glamis when it was almost 100 degrees, didnt smell anything out of the ordinary, and Vitang's truck has Dynamat and mine is just as quiet, if not quieter with more upholstery put in :notsure: I also double layered almost all of the cab since I had so much leftover after spending $30 on two rolls.

Peel n seal works great! Most people are just jealous we spent a fraction for basically the same thing.

adding to the nonsense, i used the basic plus kit from raamaudio. had enough to double layer the back wall, all 4 doors inside the door cavity and door skin, a bit on the rear floor area and a full sheet under the front floor mat area. and then covered everything with ensolite. extremely quite inside now.

gonna have to agree on the peel and seal...dont knock it till u try it...my whole cab is done this way and its a huge difference. No smell and a fraction of the price...i have a few buddies who did this years ago and havent had a single issue. some people just have a hard time thinking outside the box and dynamat loves you guys for that. Trucks looking good aaron!!

When you guys say that you put this stuff inside the door cavity and door skin, I assume the skin is just the metal I see when I remove the cover how do you do the inside? I know there are holes big enough to get my hands in but I don't understand where the peel and seal or dynomat is going. Sorry I'm new to this but I plan on trying to install my own stereo in the near future so i'm just trying to get all my ducks in a row!
