Belt has nothing to do with loose bolts that cause it to jump the rail and screw up the rad.....Nothing should of been loosened to swap the belts

Who knows whats wrong with his engine. I know he was going back and forth with Toyota about the alternator, but I have no clue what ever happened. He said so many different things I can't remember.

You need to remember when talking to a service manager you can hang yourself with the wrong words. Never give too much info - like the fact you replaced the alternator etc. Give them just as much info as they require - nothing more.

so far im fucked, the work done under warranty was shit and failed. no one wants to cover it. boyd, they changed the pulleys and took the belt off. put it on worng and it slicedone rib off the belt. which got tangled on the radiator fan and put a crack in radiator. they told me bill is over 800 and at least a day to three days to get parts, even with aftermarket.

scott, the uhauls dont have trailers here for towing. i am on the phone with my 4th one now. if anyone can get a trailer and tow me home, please attempt to help me, if not i understand, this is extreme......toyota only covers parts, not workmanship. workmanship is apparantly at dealers discretion if they will warranty their own work.

Call corporate and get a case number - that usually speeds things up. I wouldn't worry about who is paying for what. Just get it fixed, put on credit card, and refute charges is Toyota won't fix on their dime. This is why I order and buy everything with plastic. My CC has a great legal department and they have always helped me defeat bad companies in the past. Pay for everything during your down time with the same CC so it's all on record.

My CCC actually just finished settling a case for me this Spring and as usual they won for me.

Why are you still trying to tow it home? Unless your fixing it yourself I see no need.... I especially wouldn't take a truck back to get fixed by the same people who fucked it up the first time.

yeah, but boyd, they wont have the parts for up to 3 days, i sat with service manager and we called all aftermarket part places. 3 days best for aftermarket 1-2 days with toyota parts. , no rental place within 30 miles has a vehicle that i can use to tow the truck home. this is from bad to worse...

once again.....why would you tow it home? what will you get out of that? Youll blow over $200 in fuel costs alone towing it home. I see NO benefit.
I certainly wouldn't want my "second" opinion from the shop that fucked it up in the first place so no way would I bring it back to the original shop.

If it's really 3 days then rent a car on CC drive home today and then return car when your truck is fixed. Then if Toyota won't cover rental car or new parts go after them.

As stated before a Tacoma can't tow a Tacoma - it would be way overweight to do so.

I say get OE replacement parts. If he does this right the Toyota dealership should be paying the entire bill.
