I had a mag mount for 2 yrs and got tired of it getting knocked off when wheeling. I now have a Wilson 1000 ant (102" with the 60" whip and the 42" coils). I had my cb peaked and tuned and I can talk about 8-10 miles out. Best setup I could find and it all only coat me about $150. Hurt a bit to cut into the roof, but no leaks and with the weather cap on, you will never know it is there:thumbsup:

I would like to get a Wilson 1000 but got to save up some money. I had the k40 and some extra k40 parts so that's why I went with it. I will put some pics up when I get a chance.

Not sure what antenna yet but it's going on a Relentless hood hinge bracket. I painted it with Rustolem Hammered Silver.

Yeah, So this doesn't hit the windshield when the hood is open? Or do you need to remove the antenna?

Nope. No danger to the windshield. The only trick to it is that you can't use a straight cable connector because of clearance issues underneath the mount. I'd recommend something like this or this so you can get the offset angle for the coax. Works like a champ!
