What's your drive for brushless? I'm just curious. I hear a lot of guys saying they want to go brushless but I never really hear the reason. I'm a brushed guy - never owned brushless and don't really know a ton about it so I'm just trying to learn more and figure out the benefits over brushed in this scenario (crawler vs. go-fast-basher).

Also, I'm assuming you already have, but be sure to check out RCCrawler.com's Forums. Tons of "Wronchos" on there that you would drool over.

I can't tell what is sexier, the heli or that front bumper and winch. :p

I'm the same way. I also like that they are so damn cheap! I can have one or two spares with me and know that I can beat the shit out of it and replace it for less than $20 usually.

They're also naturally waterproof which is another huge plus.

One of these days I will convert my Blitz to brushless, though.

    Brush less is waterproof fyi.

BL motors have a lot more power.
.plus the only maintenance on them is bearings.... brushes wear out on a brushed system...plus they also run hotter. Oh and brush less is more efficient...around 90% when a brushed motor is around 70-80... if that.

Is brushless waterproof inherently, though? I was always under the impression that you had to specifically get a waterproof brushless system? Again, I don't know much about it.

They're fine. I can roll the truck and it turns the motor just fine, but the motor won't turn the wheels. It's like something is keeping it from rotating... I guess I'll have to tear into it and see what's going on.

This is my inspiration. I don't want to cut the body that much though, and I want to run TSL Boggers from pro-line. The truck in the video has the brushed tekin FXR 35T system running on 3S. I want that kind of power on 2S. (I already have 5 2S batteries) I'm thinking a decent brushless system might do this for me. BUT if I could do it brushed I would honestly prefer to.

As far as brushless in general goes, it's waaaay better for go-fast r/c's than brushed. Way more power spread over a further range. Also, brushless motors are more efficient because of the reduced drag and friction.

I've never seen a brushless motor that the company said outright, "This is waterproof"... There's a reason for that.

Does the motor spool up? Will the tires move with the truggy lifted off the ground?

I have two bushed motors from Holmes hobby. If they go bad, I can send them back for I believe 10 dollars and he rebuilds it.
As for the ESC's it is 50 dollars and if he can't fix it you get a new one.

Too me that is a pretty good deal, plus the way I run my motors I still have not had an issue.

Ok...I may have missed it but...what video are we talking about? I understand your drive to run 2S batteries. That is what I run and they work really well. I'm thinking about going with a smaller 2S though. The 5000s are heavy as hell and really affect my COG. I'm also able to crawl for literally 1.5-2hrs on a single pack if I don't romp on it. It's crazy overkill for what I do.

Brushless in a go-fast/basher is where it's at - I won't argue with you there.

That's awesome. I may have to pull the trigger on it so I don't have to keep my ESC in a balloon. The damn thing gets way too hot. Hasn't melted through the balloon yet though.

I think they run around 100. Well worth it when you are paying half to fix or replace. Plus he has Great customer service. When I first was going to pull the trigger on it, I called him and he spend about 45 mins talking to me about the Benefits and the negatives(which I didn't really see Any). He talked about the how they are made(both the ESC's and the motors). I was hooked.
