TRD scoop is actually functional?

So I swapped hoods and had to order the 3 separate scoop parts and the black piece and the mesh piece came in today. I went to install and noticed that if I dont install the plastic back piece, the scoop would be an actual functioning scoop? Did anyone leave theres like this? Im thinking I will because Im sure it would make a difference no?

 

You think? Why would the cold air move into the engine bay?

 

It will make a difference due to the road grime going to the engine compartment, nothing else. Air Intake is on the side of the vehicle. Scoop is non-functional

 

true enough, I was just thinking about it letting air in and getting to the k&n intake, but even then you would have to take the heat shield off

 

I don't think it'd make enough of a difference to say so... You'd be better off getting a real cold air intake (like the perfectly good stock one that you pulled off and replaced with a K&N) rather than one that pulls hot air from the engine bay.

what i dont understand is why doesnt everybody mod their hood skewp like triple x and mount a flame thrower in it?!?

Patent pending on my 2 up to 4 inch hood lift, to allow for hood scoop functionality.

 

I just put my insert back in and all I know is without it when you shut the truck off the heat would fly out of it so it had to do something to cool it off

 

Maybe when the truck isn't moving
