X2, however this only makes sense if you can find 2.5x6" shocks cheap.

These shocks have just a tad more than an inch of travel than the OEM replacement coilovers (6" vs 4.937").

They're 2.5x6? Ohh I thought they were 8s this whole time, so you can't use them if she ever decides to go long travel.
I thought you guys were on to something there haha, so what modifications did you have to do?

yea there is no way you can squeeze 8s in there, we'd be on to something stupid haha.

Only "modifications" we made to the shocks were 3" extended rod ends to clear the CV axles and 1.5" heim spacers to fit in the stock lower shock mount.

Top plate adapter from Camburg (thanks Cliff :))allowed us to bolt into the stock coil bucket, and raised spring plate gave us more room for the CV axles.

All modifications and rebuilds to the shocks were done in our garage and at Engage using their soft jaws by Anthony250 and a little by myself

One thing I found peculiar about the OEM replacement Kings is that they use a shaft spacer to clear room for the CVs instead of using an extended rod end. This robs travel, ours maintains 6". Overall she's gonna be able to cycle a good amount of shock travel and we're gonna get her tuned perfectly.

That's awesome, so basically just the mounting plates and your golden!

Probably a dumb question but I don't see how the LT kits fit 8" shocks with the stock coil buckets and your saying you bearly fit the 6"? Is it the extra downtravel that the stock parts can't handle? If so can't you strap/bump it even though you won't be using the whole shock if even half. Because without lift spindles most LT kits sit around the same height as a non LT truck would with 2.5" of preload.

Edit: unless with LT the shocks sit at a more slanted angle but that wouldn't make sense because it's the stock coil bucket. I'm just curious because If there's a way to make it work I'm sure people would buy 8s first and know that they can still use them if they go LT:eek:

LT kit = longer control arms = moving the lower shock mount out way farther = more space between the upper and lower shock mount = being able to fit a larger shock.

Lift spindles have nothing to do with shock mounts, it literally lifts the WHOLE truck up by the lift amount.

Next time you see an LT truck, see how much farther the lower shock mount is from the frame than a stock lower arm.

best way to visualize it is fully droop your lower control arms without shocks on it, all the way down, until either the ball joints or tie rods max out, and measure the distance between the LCA shock mount (lower shock mount) and the shock tower mount (upper shock mount).

Then go to this page, scroll down, and find a shock that has similar extended length:

My build has been temporarily derailed by a tiny mod money stealing monster... it looks something like this

    :yay:
I found her at the OC shelter.. she was picked up as a stray.. shes learning the ropes pretty quickly though

I can tell she will be great, she already follows me around the house everywhere I go. I am sure my seasoned trail buddy (Duke) will show her the ropes when out on the trail too :D

    :D:D:D

Duke seems to like her so far.. They played for the first time today.. She is a bit smaller than him but big enough to hold her own when they play (when she recovers from her surgery of course) He has been an absolute angel (as always)...

oh and we named her Lucerne, or Lucy
