Hey gents... 1st mod I did to my car was a new headunit and backup camera, etc... My buddy had a camera lying around that he said I could use so I purchased the handle off eBay for $10 and decided I would try his out...

Needless to say it sucks... It points directly down at the bumper so I really don't get the full effect of it...

I am looking for a cheap alternative... Already have all the cables ran, just need a camera that would work better. I'm sure a lot of people are using aftermarket cameras, just wondering which ones y'all are using.

And don't say anything about the hole that I drilled in the tailgate... I don't want to talk about it...:lalala:

Take a pic of what your camera is showing now. It may not be much of a difference.

Not that I know of... It was just some offbrand camera that he already had.

I just feel like I'm staring straight at the ground

Well I had the RCA hookup in the back, and ran the yellow cable to the back... So it hooks up with the red and yellow RCA cables, and from what I can tell the OEM has a plug that you plug into the camera. Plus, I can prolly get an aftermarket for like $20-$30, and the OEM ones seem to be more expensive...

We started trimming with a razor blade just to at least get this one to fit in there, but the camera is crazy thick, and if I start to trim to much from the plastic I'm afraid the camera will get real loose and flop around...

The camera is probably about as thick as a roll of quarters...

Yeah that is pointing WAY too low to be useful. You are either going to have to move it up and angle it, or get the OEM camera.

I'd take off the handle and with a little bondo/fiberglass work it shouldn't be too hard to make it point where you need it. Sillycone is also very useful for making it not 'wobble'

U mounted a non oem camera on an oem tail gate handle lol

And it's bigger so it only fits pointing. Down limiting the angle...u need to buy either a stock camera or one that's close to size (eBay has some) that what u can point it "up" and have a completely better view

I would try that, but the camera already blows and everything that is green shows up with a pinkish/purplish hue. So I was wanting to replace it anyways...

That's how I roll son... Much cheaper that way... I bought the handle for $10, and the camera was free. So I figured if I had to buy another camera for a few bucks I would still come out way ahead...

Someone suggested this one, but I know nothing about it...
