Turn Signals Won't work

2007 Tacoma bought used. I tow regularly and noticed yesterday the left turn signal on the trailer wasn't working. Today, it started working again, then the hazard lights wouldn't work on truck or trailer and now after checking and replacing applicable fuses, turn signals on truck and trailer do not work. Disconnected harness to trailer and still no turn signals on truck. Even the instrument panel turn signals do not come on. Any suggestions?

 

if they work when you DON'T have the trailer wire plugged in, that is one problem, but if its when you have the trailer plugged in then you have a short in the trailer wiring.
i have done this many times working for a trailer builder, finding a short is not fun.
if its the trailer, you have to get the trailer plug and one at a time separate, lights, turn lights, (2) brake lights, one wire is the ground, usually not that.
then you have to try to find where the wire is grounding out.

 

Not trailer related. I just checked it again....now the turn signals on the instrument panel work, all turn lights work except one. I'm wondering if it is somehow related to the hazard lights, as when they are "on" that's when everything starts going array.

 

PS - the turn signal that doesn't work is on the trailer

 

ok, this is a long shot, and its been awhile since i have done wiring, but I have run across a bad or burnt out flasher. we had a ford f350 and the trailer had a short in it, and it shorted/burned out the flasher in the truck. thats the best i can remember, and no idea where one is on your truck, but that is what i would check out.
but it killed the turn sig. and emerg. flashers.
