I looked at the specs for the comparable Frontier, and some things stuck out negatively/positively for both. Things like turning radius, approach/departure angles, 250 lbs less curb weight, outboard rear shocks were positives for the Taco.

More HP/torque for the Nissan, rear discs, little more standard ground clearance. I see the Nissan has standard oil pressure/amp gauges, that's nice. Nissan was cheaper, had a $2000 cashback. Definitely would have liked to pay less.

Meh, not a huge lot of differences on the surface, but I think overall the Taco is a better truck. They're pricey, $27k for mine, the Nissan maybe only $24k, but hopefully the resale on the Taco will be better down the road.

Just a bunch of old crap
She probably wanted the Frontier because it had more cupholders for her Starbucks.

I had an '04 xterra drove it to 126K...engine was still good front end needed work and a/c needed work. Point is I looked at the pro4x xterra and really not sold on it.
Went randomly to toyota left with a 2012 Tacoma and traded in the xterra. no regret only thing is I just miss my first car lol

She has had it for a while now. She jokes with me about not having leather or a sun roof. We took a trip to Colorado in the Tacoma and when. I mentioned i could not see the house up on a mountain she wanted me to see she jokingly said "if you gad a sunroof you could see it." But the seats in the Frontier are way too flat in the side bolsters... feels like i want to slip out. On the other hand her rear suspension is super supple compared to my taco, even stock. I have more wind noise she has more a/c noise and road noise. I like her truck, but I prefer my Tacoma.

She had intended to put a small lift, tires and Shrockworks bumpers and sliders on but the troubles i have with the tacoma mods have made her decide to keep it stock. She prefers my brakes to hers. She also has a crazy accelerator that is way too sensitive.

Sounds like the differences between the two are subtle. The Nissan is less expensive with more features but I'm sure the resale on the Tacoma is WAY better.

When I was considering a Nissan, my brother said "How many old Nissans do you still see on the roads and out in the desert?"
My response: "Oh yeah... Tacoma it is."

Of course, if the Nissan has better leaf springs, then there's at least one win for them.

I couldn't find specs for 0-60 acceleration and 60-0 braking, but I can believe it considering the Nissan curb weight is 250 lbs heavier. That makes a bit of a difference.

I like discs because they're easier to change the pads on, that's an advantage.

Coming from '06 Frontier to a Tacoma. Let me tell you the auto tranny on the Frontier is not the best. Truck struggles at 45 mph unless you put your foot in it. Tacoma is much smoother through the gears. I would never take a Frontier over a Tacoma and once was die hard Nissan fanboy.

Yes indeed. My wife has a RAV4. We have the perfect combination of vehicles. When we dont need the truck, the RAV Sport V6 is a blast to drive and gets 25 mpg

When I was looking between Frontys and Tacos, the reviews I read were that Fronty's had problems with their Diffs, like completely breaking down. And the Tacos had problems with their Tranny's "searching" too often. Something I can live with as I don't have to spend thousands fixing. I love my Taco. As we all do.

Nissans have really soft rear leaves. Specifically referring to the f-alpha platform of the pathfinder xterra and frontier.

Thats why the leaves flatten so quickly. Look through clubfrontier sometime and someone is usually posting a topic about flat leaf springs.

The pathfinder is the biggest piece of junk out there.. Talk about a large sized SUV with no room inside and the most uncomfortable seats ever. I had to rent one on vacation and we got 14mpg out of it. My 05 GMC Denalli got 17mpg and has twice the engine and AWD..

A buddy of mine had a Titan.... On his 4th rear diff they lemon lawed the thing...

Even the Nissan GTR's are having trans issues and that is a flag ship model!!

Enjoy your taco and hope that if you marry this girl, you don't have to deal with being upside down on the loan when you go to trade it in... Resale sucks..

My wife was hands down for the Tacoma we just bought. Her sons both have Fords and a Dodge. A friend has a Ford. And first choice was the last choice, it was the only choice. All she wanted to do was pick the color. So now we have a 2012 Pyrite Mica Taco. She said those other trucks are....plain and boring looking. Plus we both see alot of Tacos around. Gotta love dependability.

A Frontier has the looks of a mini F150 to me. Looks like what Ford should have done to the Ranger.

So she bought a Frontier.....could be worse she could have bought a Colorado/Canyon.
