It's cool man, no hard feelings. Even though I'm as much a fan of some dark humor that borders on particularly offensive as the next guy, there are just a few spots where I draw the line, particularly when it's on the interwebs and tough to tell how it comes across.

I will say some of the guys in the group would be pretty impressed with your XJ, regardless of who makes the thing. Lots of them have been wheeling for years, and just happen to own Toyotas at this point in time.

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.

why thank you. After I get these bumpers and slip yoke eliminator installed, I have a feeling my next step will be to start breaking things (i.e. dana 30 front axle most likely). Axle work is gonna suck. Too bad Jeep hasn't put tough front axles in their vehicles since the 80's. Even the dana 44 in the rubicon sucks. It's a LP D30 with a D44 pumpkin.

I am curious about something I have noticed recently about my sig. When I look at it on my profile, as well as when I look at the post when "preview" is selected, you can see the entire animated gif. However on all of my actual posts, the bottom....oh centimeter or so is cut off....any ideas as to why?

Wow, I didn't know that about the Rubicon. That's pretty shitty of them, particularly on a truck that comes stock fully locked on 33's. I bet the folks that do 37's on them toast them real quick.

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.

yep. I was considering long term upgrades for the xj and thought:

rubi's have 4:1 xcases, dana 44's, lockers w/4:10 gearing. All of this is bolt on to an xj minus the rear axle (leaf vs coil).

Why not pick up a totaled rubi for under 5k and you have over 5k in drive train part value, not to mention no fab time. After researching it, turns out only the rear is a true 44. Like I said, the front 44 is a 30 w/ a 44 pumpkin. Sure you have a bigger r&p making it stronger, but its a LP so it really isn't any better than the HP D30 I have right now.

New rubi's are a rip off. The only thing you are getting out of them is the convenience of it being prebuilt and a pretty damn good xfer case. All JK's have a 44 rear and 30 front. So for 10k more, you get a front 44 axle you are going to end up breaking if you wheel hard, 4:10's that still aren't quite enough for 33-35's (although the 4:1 helps), and mediocre lockers. Oh yeah, forgot to mention an automatic sway bar disconnet (quick disco's = 30 bucks, you're not going to run sway bars while wheeling anyways.)
